Casper business leaders report strong prospects as a transcontinental railroad plans a northern line near town. Westerveldt confirms talks to place machine shops and yards here, with land buys and a dispatch to proceed. Court-house area parcels offered at eighty acres plus two forty acre tracts, price set at 100 dollars an acre after initial dispute.

Five Stars Company Delights Lyceum Crowd

The Five Stars company performed at the Lyceum to a filled hall in Caspar. Miss Bernice Chambers impressed as violin soloist while her sister Bessie Chambers accompanied on piano. Miss Longman and Miss Holmes contributed strong contralto and soprano numbers as the group mixed music and comedy successfully.

Bothwell Case Finished in Cheyenne Federal Court

The United States reclamation service case against A. J. Bothwell ended with a verdict of 117,850 in Cheyenne. About 89,600 covered 620 acres with unclear title. 108,250 related to ranch property. The suit arose from flooding of Bealby ranch caused by Pathfinder dam. An appraisal had valued the land at 102,000, contested by the government. Over fifty witnesses testified as the matter moved through the federal court, with sentiment suggesting insufficient compensation but no appeal expected.

Band Concert Draws Big Casper Bell Theatre Crowd

A large Casper Bell theatre crowd attended a free Monday night concert by the school band. Early arrival was advised as standing room filled quickly and many were turned away. The program featured overtures, solos by John Trevette and F P Bogue, humorous Dutch reading by Miss Holman, and vocal numbers by Mrs Hadley and Miss Villiers, all met with enthusiastic applause.

Scotty Arrives for Winter with White Sox Return Promised

Scotty Scott arrived Friday night to spend winter after a postseason series in El Paso Texas where he led Douglas Arizona to a 13 to 3 win over Rube Waddell. He faced strong pitching, had five shutouts and a winning season as a new major leaguer. Jim chose Detroit to win during the Detroit-Pittsburg clash and missed the games. A couple seeks two or three furnished light house keeping rooms at Schulter's hardware store.

New Fiberizer Demonstrates Workability of Asbestos

Sherbrooke inventor F. McKay reports on a fiberizing machine that processed 26 pounds of serpentine rock into 11 pounds of marketable asbestos. He notes a cyclone method yields purer fiber, while a mortar crush leaves rock particles attached.
