An asbestos mine worker, Hector McLean, slipped while descending a 45 degree chute at the North American asbestos mine and suffered a broken right limb and a skull fracture. He was rushed to Dr. Lathrop’s hospital for treatment and was reported to be improving with hope for recovery.
A Casper resident displays gold quartz believed to be rich in flakes. He claims a rock led to a valuable ore sample after bullets chipped the stone. The man hints at mining claims while cautioning that the rock origin is undisclosed and quartz is scarce locally.
The Wyoming Plant and Seed Breeding company reports improved winter emmer thriving in Worland. Harvesters work daylight hours with threshing due next week. a field test shows about 180 bushels per acre at 40 pounds per bushel, with expected average above 100 bushels per acre. Prices at the state sale are won’t differ much from prior years.
W. Barnes for President Taft and the tariff board cites government data on wool and sheep to claim profits per head. He estimates cost 1.50 per sheep, receipts 63.31, net 1.81, noting slight state variations and potential gains from better methods. An editor calls the piece incomplete and misleading.
