Miner Killed in Kimberly Camp Accidental Shaft Blast

A miner named David Condon, 42, was fatally injured at Kimberly camp near Greenwood last Saturday evening after lighting a fuse in a 380 foot shaft and falling while climbing out. Five shots exploded shortly after, causing instant death with neck and jaw injuries. No inquest was held.

North Side Sawmill Sold to D Bailey of Columbia

Last Wednesday Monnier sold the EH G Thomason Co sawmill on the north side to D Bailey of Columbia. Major W H Cooper conducted negotiations. The $3000 cash feature was reported. The mill is being moved to Gilpins ranch near Kettle River to supply lumber for Columbia, where lumber is scarce.

John Dorsey, formerly of the Hotel Gladstone, operates a new commodious Hartford hotel at Hartford Junction. The Hartford stands at the Phoenix and Winnipeg spurs junction, directing all rail travel to the camps through Hartford. His card appears in another column.
