The Cascade ladies voted to hold a public supper and entertainment at Cascade Auditorium on Thursday April 6 from 6 to 8 pm to raise funds for the Presbyterian church. After supper, an 8:30 pm conversational program will feature vocal and instrumental music all for 50 cents, children 25 cents.
A practical guide notes that prospectors can detect tellurium quickly using a blowpipe and a few drops of sulfuric acid on ore placed in a warmed porcelain dish. If tellurium is present the ore reacts with a carmine to purple color. Tellurium fuses near 500 C and distills at high temperature with a golden yellow vapor and distinctive absorption spectrum. Conductivity resembles selenium and increases with prior heating and light exposure.
Mrs. F. L. Chaplin, wife of a bookkeeper for G. B. Helpfrey, at the mouth of Curlew Creek, accidentally shot herself in the foot at her residence a few days ago.
