Amos H Hill dies suddenly at Rush county farm
Amos H Hill aged 69 dies of heart failure at his Rush county farm on Friday night after church with his wife. Funeral held Monday at Walnut Ridge church with Rev J O Binford and Rev Alfred Brown officiating. He was born January 4 1827 in Randolph County Indiana and married Penina Thornburg in 1848. Survived by four children and many relatives. long devoted to ministry and family, known for hospitality and steadfast faith.

Remembered Mary Jane Winslow Dies at 52 in Carthage Township
Mary Jane Winslow longtime resident of the township died at her farm four miles southwest of Carthage Thursday afternoon after a long illness aged 52 years eight months two days. She married William F. Winslow in 1860 and they had ten children, five living. Mrs Winslow was active in church and family, educated at Earlham College, a lover of flowers, and faithful in Christian service throughout her life. The funeral was held Saturday at Ridge Church with Rev J O Binford officiating.

Pearl May Baker dies at fifteen in Richmond
Pearl May Baker of Carthage died at the Home for the Friendless in Richmond from consumption of the bowels with dropsy at age fifteen. Funeral services were held at the Friends church in Carthage, the Rev W N Fletcher officiating. A letter from Rev M M Binford defends her innocence and notes care by the Home for the Friendless.

Holt's Flour Mill Burned Down in Afternoon Fire
A large fire destroyed Holt's Large Flour Mill at about 5 20 pm causing 8000 to 10000 pounds of flour saved and debris scattered. Fire crews saved the building's office, safes, and furniture with Dr F M Sparks leading efforts as dust and wheat fueled the blaze. Police investigation suggests ignition by one of the mill workers as a cause. Republicans of Rash County set delegate convention for March 7 with 279 delegates apportioned by township votes.

At the North Main Street home of Mr and Mrs F H Holt a Friday afternoon pi party hosted by Mrs Holt Mrs W G Allan and Miss Mary E Odell drew about fifty ladies. Guests deciphered pi coded names for a china cup prize won by Mrs J M Stone after a final tiebreaker. Light refreshments and decorative touches filled the elegant rooms with smilax wax candles and verses on booklets. Artle Bundy in pink and Flora Hendricks in white served at table.
