Delegates from Bush and Decatur counties met in Greensburg to select a prosecuting attorney for the Judicial district. After a day of ballots and a unit rule dispute, Elmer E. Roland of Decatur was chosen on the seventh ballot amid praise for his ability and character.

Sebitha Allender born November 9, 1820 in Fleming county Kentucky died after a long life of faith and family. She married Nathan Parish then William Beckner and Newk Deady. survived by two sons and a daughter. John A Holding born September 17, 1824 in Scott county Kentucky moved to Indiana. survived by five children and a long record of faith across Methodist, Christian Union, and Friends churches. Funeral for Holding held April 15, 1896 at Morristown M E church with burial at Asbury Cemetery.

Town Board Leases Ground and Buys Old School Site
At a special meeting the Town Board bought the south half of the old school building from Allen Newsom for 300 dollars, allowed 25 dollars for the old town hall, and leased the property for five years. The board plans to move the building to the town lot corner for hitchracks, a plan critics say is costly and questionable.

Indianapolis Journal reports Major C. T. Doxey sent a telegram to Governor Claude Matthews during the Hammond strike offering up to a thousand mounted men from the gas fields to protect life liberty property and the nation’s honor. Rushville correspondent notes William Ogle of Rush County moved to Wells County bought eighty acres at 16 dollars per acre.
