Seven year old boy killed in farming accident near Arlington
The seven year old son of Samuel Plank of McCordsville was visiting relatives near Arlington when he was caught in a wheat cutting machine at his uncle Oliver Drysdale’s farm. He lost a leg, was taken home, and died that night despite Dr. Sexton of Rushville’s attempts. Relatives lament the tragedy as the ripples of the accident echo through the family. Democratic Township Convention held in Ripley at the Town Hall last Friday.

Jabez Smith, a Bebout farm resident southwest of Rushville, faced a close call last Wednesday afternoon while tending the pasture. He ventured out to retrieve one of the cattle when danger prompted a rapid retreat to safety.

While hitching up horses to drive his wife to town, Mr Smith was struck by a horse jumping over the bars. He was knocked down and unconscious for three hours but later recovered and made it to town on Saturday.
