Mrs Barger dies of tetanus after barn yard injury
Mrs Jefferson Barger wife of the ex city marshal of Shelbyville died Saturday morning from tetanus after stepping on a nail in the barn yard of her dairy. She leaves a little girl. The note also covers a walking feat by Miss Jane Morarity in the 1870s and a yearbook report from DePauw University 1895 96 noting enrollment increases and strong campus finances.

Fire injures two men in tractor engine crash near Forbes farm
James Forbes and John Bush were driving a traction engine from Arlington to Forbes farm when they turned into James Johnson's place for water. A burst natural gas pipe in the gate ignited flames in the cab, injuring both men and tearing skin on Forbes hand. They were treated at Forbes home by Dr. Coffin. Bush returned to Hancock by Thursday morning.

The Woman's Literary Circle held an open meeting Monday evening at Mr and Mrs Jesse M Stone corner Walnut and First streets. Emmit Plank Dies at Six in 1896 Obituary
Emmit, son of Samuel and Ella Plank, died Wednesday night June 17 1896 at eleven thirty after a brief illness. Despite his short life he brightened the home and was beloved by all. The family mourns but rests in faith, as Emmit rests in a heavenly home beyond suffering. He leaves his parents two sisters two brothers and many relatives and friends to mourn him. A FRIEND.
