Knightstown Commandery Knights Templar held Ascension Day services at the new Christian church last Sunday invited by Rush Lodge F and A M. Eminent Commander John Barnes and Captain-General T B Wilkinson led a drill at Masonic Hall before a service echoing Episcopalian ritual with Rev W M Carson delivering part of the program. Forty three Knights and their wives were entertained at dinner with local citizens. group photographs followed the meal.
Mrs Henry Lacy, born Margaret L Galloway in Knightstown on August 29 1847, lived in Carthage and Hamilton County Indiana, married February 16 1865, had four children, member of Friends church, died May 28 1897 in her 50th year. She left eleven siblings, eight alive, devoted Christian who spoke of all being well with her sons.
Elisha Munden born July 10 1827 in North Carolina died May 28 1897 at his Rush County Indiana home aged 69 years 10 months 18 days He married Lucinda Eaton October 25 1849 with six children three boys three girls two dead four living His church membership at Franklin since March 1854 under Nimrod Carick He joined the M E church soon after baptism in Little Blue river Funeral at Franklin church May 30 conducted by Wilbur S Smith and burial nearby
The undersigned thank neighbors and friends for kindness and sympathy during the illness and death of their husband and father. Mrs Lucinpa Munpen and Faminy, Hendricks county farmers living in Guilford township, will send a car load of corn townserving India.

The community announces engagements, church notes, a rise in wages, and local visits from families including Hill, Dennis, Johnson, Gause, and Drake. Memorial Day observed, church services planned, and changes to local businesses and professions noted.
John Reddick’s two story frame homestead two miles southwest of Carthage burned Wednesday. Frank Reddick and family were at dinner when flames erupted in the upper rooms. little furniture saved. Smokehouse and outbuildings destroyed. Cause tied to a gas jet used while painting. Insurance reportedly present.
The program outlines a June 12 meeting at 2 PM on how to secure a succession of vegetables of the same kind. T. T. Newby opens with discussion led by J C Hill. Lizzie Hill Williams selects reading. Miscellaneous questions to be answered. All interested urged to attend by the committee.

Ed Andrews and wife from Greenfield visit Frank Edwards. Mrs Homer Hackleman and children from Knightstown visit J J Beeson. Sugar Grove C E Sunday School plans a children's day at church on June 20. John Hunt and wife attend Friends Quarterly Meeting in Greenfield. E D Newby fills in at Greenfield Western Union Telegraph office. Rev Jared Binford preaches at Western Grove church while pastor Lindley Wells attends Quarterly meeting. White river is full of dead fish from dynamite. The deputy commissioner tracks the unsercants.
