A neighboring town’s church raised funds to build a new house of worship by appealing to local merchants. John Smith the jeweler added a $5 contribution after an appeal from the minister, though some firms like Sears Roebuck Montgomery Ward gave nothing. The dedication followed, and the town saw no further mail orders.
The remedy suggests Chamberlain's Pain Balm applied two or three times daily with vigorous rubbing. If no relief, wrap the area with a flannel dampened in Pain Balm for quicker relief. Sold by all druggists with McClain's in Carthage listed.
Reuben Bailey, a well-to-do Black man living south of New Castle, died unexpectedly last Monday after a brief illness begun after breakfast. Doctors could not help him. Coroner Wright was summoned Monday afternoon for an investigation into his death. The family arose for breakfast Monday morning.
Mr Bailey a well known Henry county resident of 84 years in the area died after illness that followed sausages and coffee. Doctors could not explain cause. Some blamed sausage though others who ate it were fine. Bailey, born Winston, NC, 58 years ago, leaves wife nine children.
Physicians with national reputations say catching a cold can lead to pneumonia consumption and other throat and lung troubles. They urge avoiding colds and endorse Chamberlain's Cough Remedy as a cure before diseases develop, noting no opium or morphine and thirty years of proven cures. Dr O W Righter of ela offers 4000 dollars, intends to give possession, leave the hood, and expects to have soon of his personal property.
A 24 year old man named Alonzo Perry was convicted in Henry Circuit Court of bigamy. Judge Morris sentenced him to a term at the southern prison from two to fourteen years. His first wife Susan Johnson Perry of Lima Ohio testified as the prosecuting witness. Perry is a well known resident of the area.
An advertisement urges readers to choose Chamberlain's Stomach and Liver Tablets as a mild gentle physic that is easy to take and sure to act, noting availability through all druggists.
Dr. E L Misner won a verdict for 300 dollars after suing to recover compensation for treating smallpox during the epidemic at Mechanicsburg. The Henry commissioners had previously declined to pay him.
Estella Addison, now of this city, sues Arley Addison formerly of Spiceland proposing an absolute divorce for cruel and inhuman treatment. She cites failure to pay house rent and buy a worn dress. Addison left for Fairmount two years ago where he works as a blacksmith. After abandonment, Mrs Addison and their child moved to a town. She seeks custody of the child along with the divorce.
Sybil Ayrton endures years of hardship with her husband Lyster Ayrton whose self destruction ends in a fatal accident. She nurses him to death and survives a deep remorse, later finding happiness with Alan Ryder and her beloved Glynn Castle circle. The tale closes with Sybil teaching her daughters the duty to do what is right.
Hetty Green, America's richest woman, plans to purchase an automobile and operate it personally. A New York writer notes her softened view of motorists, saying she will travel by car from bank to bank and follow three rules: buy the best for least money, allow slow speeds, and avoid chauffeurs. The piece ends with a quip about proving love by life.
