Old Skinner House Repaired After 1796 Build
Wayne county Pennsylvania resident Mrs Mary Skinner recently had her house reshingled and repaired. The dwelling, built in 1765 and known as the new house, has not been repaired since 1796 when the original home burned in an Indian attack. The Skinner tract is among the Delaware valley’s earliest settlements, with Daniel Skinner pioneering rafting timber downsriver to Philadelphia in 1765 for sale. The old barn, built 1777, remains. The Skinner estate has remained within the family since its founding.

After years of public life, age and deafness keep him from visitors, yet a flower gift and persistence yield a brief moment of greeting at the castle.
