J.E. Jay announces his departure from the Record to take a teaching position. He notes the paper will continue normally, with advertising and job work unaffected, and that Mr Lloyd Henley has assumed business and editorial control. All communications should be addressed to The Record.
Miss Bertha Hill and Miss Eva Marlatt visit friends and relatives in Spiceland and Milroy while Newsom's unveils new hat arrivals. Local society keeps busy with visits, trips, and community events amid ads for goods and upcoming picnics and excursions.
Notice is given that on the 29th day of August 1898 at a specified time in the town hall of Carthage Indiana a hearing will be held on the final estimate for the cost of Second Street from Main Street to Harrison Street. The Town Trustees will consider objections from interested parties. Roy Peters, Town Clerk.
Health Board notice requires all weeds on and adjoining property, streets and alleys to be cut by August 15, 1898. If not done, the marshal will be instructed to cut them at the property owner's expense. By order, Carthage Board of Health. F. W. Creger, Sec.
