Fire destroys Hinchman tobacco barn in Union township
Robert N. Hinchman’s tobacco barn on his Union township farm burned Monday night. The nearly new barn held 12,000 pounds of tobacco, four cultivators, a mower and other implements, all lost. The fire spread to a hog house and feed house as well. Loss estimated about 1200 dollars with 100 dollars insured on the barn and 450 dollars on the tobacco.

Railroad Crossings Open After Court Decision
The Big Four line facing two cases for obstructing the highway was fined 25 dollars and costs in one, with section hands ordered 1 dollar and costs in each case. Ten days were allowed for appeal. Marshal Hill oversaw opening of street crossings last Friday without opposition from the railroad. Attorney Cowgill and Squire Benjamin presided over court proceedings.
