Mrs Frances Nelson mother of James Nelson of Carthage died Monday morning last week at her Texas City Illinois home. Mr and Mrs James Nelson and their son Pfc Lowell Nelson attended the funeral services.

A supplement to Here Is Your Indiana Government, the bulletin aids schools and researchers and is available at Carthage Public Library for easy access.
John J. Brossard vice president and director of Container Corporation of America will retire from active service effective October 1. Ira C. Keller was elected to fill the vacancy, bringing nineteen years with the company and heading the eastern division with plants in Boston Wilmington Baltimore and Philadelphia.
George Muhlhauser, a renowned crowd entertainer, is booked by WLW to appear at the Indiana Republican Editorial Association semi annual banquet in French Lick Saturday night. U.S. Senator Ferguson of Michigan will speak at the banquet, the highlight of the three day meeting opening Friday.
Captain James Henley of the 67th group returned to Camp Atterbury and was discharged. His parents met him there and he went home Sunday. The unit flew over 6,000 combat missions and earned a Distinguished Unit Citation for D-Day prep work. Carl Edwards, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Edwards, was discharged and is with his parents. Norman Edwards has just come home from overseas and will finish a 30 day furlough before reporting back. Jerry Edwards remains in Hawaii with the family.
Mrs. Julia Heathcott, a former resident of three quarters of a century, died Wednesday morning at her daughter Lena Baker’s home near New Castle. She was 86. Funeral services Friday at 2 p.m. at Morton Brook home, 230 N Madison, Knightstown, with burial at Glen Cove cemetery. She leaves two sons and four daughters.
Mrs. Bess Baker hosted Lafalot club members Friday afternoon with two table bridge games and delicious refreshments. The event featured socializing and friendly competition in a welcoming setting.
The Missionary meeting at Blue River convened Thursday afternoon at 2 oclock with Mrs Lena Anderson leading attendees. Sessions focused on outreach and local faith activities as part of weekly community events.
Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clara Delinger the guests included Cpl. Edward E. Carter on a 30 day furlough from overseas and Mrs. Carter of Gwynneville, Robert Carter of the Navy stationed at Camp Perry Virginia. The party were in Shelbyville Thursday afternoon.

Carthage was well represented at Fletcher Methodist Church Sunday night as Boy Scouts Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts received honors and badges. Scoutmaster Lee Silver led the ceremony with Henry Stinger delivering remarks as music moving pictures and remarks combined for an engaging evening.
Mrs. James Cadwallader of Arlington died Wednesday at 4 p m after bedfast illness since August 7. Born July 23 1898 in Rush County she lived in Arlington most her life and worked as a correspondent for Carthage Citizen. Funeral Saturday at 2 p m at Arlington Christian church with Rev Charles Buck officiating. Burial in Arlington cemetery. She leaves husband James two sons James E and Robert E, father Thomas Bird two sisters and several nieces and nephews.
Several Carthage residents met Tuesday at Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Thompson's home to form an Eastern Star organization. A petition supporting the project was signed by 30 people.
All Federated Clubs members are urged to attend the district convention in Morristown at the Christian church on Wednesday October 3 with luncheon at the Blue Bird Cafe.
The Christian Helpers plan a meeting next Thursday October 4 with Mrs Bertha Beck. Assisting Mrs Beck are Mrs Ina Magee and Mrs Fannie Clevidence.

A Rush county farm bureau meeting was held Wednesday night at 8 o'clock at the Mays school building. Hassil Schenck, president of the Indiana Farm Bureau, spoke. The Ripley Center Jackson and Washington Farm Bureaus sponsored the event, with music by the County Farm Bureau Band.

Kick Off Day marks the campaign start, with many counties holding Oct 14 meetings to finalize plans and set up committees for the rollout led by Larry Brandon, state vice-president.
