Cycle-car crash injures Herman Strong en route to school

Herman Strong, a 16 year old from New Castle, suffered a compound fracture and deep leg laceration after a cycle-car crash on the way to school September 17. He was moved from Henry County Hospital to Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, room 329. The Old Fashioned Airs Quartet will perform Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at Carthage Methodist Church, featuring Harry Martin, Marian Martin, Bob Banks and Rowena Banks of New Palestine.

McClurg Family Attends Mantle Day at Yankee Stadium

Carthage band members and their supporters drive to Lafayette for Band Day and the Purdue versus Miami of Ohio football game. Sorority Holds September Meeting at Community Center

The Kappa Kappa Sigma sorority met Tuesday evening with 23 members present as Mrs. Frank Hampton and Mrs. James Ellis hosted at the Community Center. President Mrs. Hugh Weber led the business session finalizing festival plans. Bridge and canasta were played with prizes of potted plants awarded to Mrs. Edward McGarry, Miss Karen Petry, Mrs. Phil Parish, and Miss Cynthia Pearson. refreshments followed.

Hancock County Conference to be dissolved by administration

At a September meeting in Hancock County the Hanvoc Lounly AGMuusstravduS O convened to vote unanimously for dissolving the Hancock County Conference. The six to four school membership drop over the years, caused by redistricting and waning enthusiasm, led officials like M. K. Holzhausen Theron Ogle and Dr. Wilson to conclude the group has fulfilled its purpose. Miss Fall Festival 1965 Queen Pageant Kickoff Night

The 1965 Fall Festival begins September 26 with a tea for contestants and sponsors. On September 29 at 8 00 p m Wayne Logan will host the pageant in Carthage Community Center where Miss Fall Festival 1965 will be crowned. Carthage Fall Festival Opens With New Battle of the Bands

The 1965 Carthage Fall Festival runs September 29 to October 2 with an inaugural Battle of the Bands at 7 30 p m Friday in the Carthage School gym offering a 100 prize. Tribu Terries of Rushville hosts eight bands, each performing three numbers judged for the prize. Proceeds go to the Community Center, with events including a queen contest, smorgasbord, crafts booths, a parade, cake walk, a dance featuring Carter Lanning Band, and various children activities. A 75 cent concert charge applies to the Battle of the Bands.
