Trip and Vacation Spent in New York

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Jackson of Carthage and Mrs. Luther Hall of Carthage completed a week long trip to New York City. They visited the World’s Fair toured the city and Liberty Island and took a boat trip around Manhattan Island. They hosted an evening with Mr. and Mrs. James Smith and family in East Northport Long Island and returned by the northern route.

WSCS Meeting Held at Sandusky Church in Rush Decatur

County Baseball Titlists Vie Today

First round results in the county high school tournament sent New Salem Carthage and Morton to Friday semifinals. New Salem upset Arlington 10 to 3 while Carthage beat Manila 3 to 2 and Morton defeated Mays 11 to 4. Host town Manila led Carthage 2 0 through five innings before three Owl errors sparked a three run sixth.

Festival Queen crowned at Fall Festival pageant

Miss Janice Petry was crowned Miss Fall Festival 1965 at the queen pageant Wednesday night. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Quenton Petry and won by a very close margin over 22 other contestants.

4H Judging Contest Held Saturday at Don Addison Farm

The annual 4H and FFA Land Judging Contest occurred on September 23 at the Don Addison farm in Center Township with 78 participants. Rushville FFA won first place, Arlington FFA second, and a Rushville team finished fifth. Top individuals included Steve Hahn and Phil Geise among others. Lions Club presented the trophy to the winning team.
