16th Annual Dustinet 44H Steer Show and Sale Sets Record

Steers sold at the 16th Southeastern Indiana Dustinet 44H Show averaged 32.60 per hundredweight, highest since 1952. Grand champion brought 70.00 per cwt to Pavey Stockyards. Rushville event, sponsored by the Rushville Chamber of Commerce, has seen 2,486 steers sold worth 731,858.42 over sixteen years with about 110 4H exhibitors from 13 counties.

New Salem defeated Carthage nine Tuesday by a 13 to 2 final. Eight first inning runs blew open the game, leaving Carthage with a 1-2 league mark. Bowling Tournament Kicks Off Saturday at Darth Knight

United States Senator Homer E Capehart criticized President Kennedy's plan to call up 150000 reservists as a partisan move against Republicans and as a psychological tactic toward the Russians The senator questioned the need given existing regular forces and contrasted it with prior assurances after the Berlin crisis. Fall Festival Plans Highlight Co-Chairs Busy Week

1962 Queen candidates and community groups finalize a gala week with events including a Thursday night eu chre party and a 7 p.m band concert by Carthage High School on the Community Center lot. Also scheduled are a bowling tournament, flower show, rides, contests, a parade, a band contest, a fish fry, and a dance with queen crowning. Proceeds support the Community Center and fund a new oil furnace.
