The P T D sponsors the annual Carthage Halloween Party for children to be held Saturday October 31. A masked parade begins at 7 p m with prizes for prettiest ugliest most original best ghost and best couple. Students will enjoy a comedy picture show and refreshments.
Johnnie Terhune Jimmie Carroll and Lynn Ray of Carthage had tonsil operations at the New Castle Clinic last week. Jeff May son of Dale and Mrs May underwent a tonsillectomy at the same clinic last Thursday.
Rev. and Mrs. Lewis May hosted the Walnut Ridge Quarterly Meeting at their Carthage home with ten attendees. Rev. Edgar Barker of Westland Church led devotions, Rev. Cole of Little Blue Church was named the new chairman, and Rev. John Compton and Mrs. Compton attended as yearly superintendent and spouse.
The Community Concerts Series announces a November schedule with Godes pianist at Thomas A Hendrix School on Sunday November 1 at 3 p.m. and Sarah Fleming soprano at Rushville Main Street Christian Church on Sunday November 8 at 3 p.m. Members may be admitted by receipts if membership cards are not received by the concert date.
Mr and Mrs Wilbur Gatewood and their son Charles visited Ronnie Gatewood at Purdue University on Saturday and attended the Purdue versus Iowa football game.
Evangelistic meetings run November 4 to 15 at Walnut Ridge Friends Church. Rev. Miller Lydick Evangelist leads services nightly at 7 30 except November 11 12 13 with no service. Mrs Inez Martin of Vevay mother of Mrs Stanley Hankins of Carthage has entered Kings Daughters Hospital Madison where her condition is listed as very poor. Mr and Mrs Hankins were at Vevay and Madison over the weekend due to Mrs Martin illness. Richard Henderson 21 Carthage factory worker and Helen K Paulus 601% Sexton Street Rushville, baby sitter, obtain marriage license.
Mr and Mrs John Knoebel of Madison are parents of a 7 lb 7 oz daughter named Kimberly Diane born Thursday October 22. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Russell Kennedy of Madison, formerly of Carthage.
Mrs. Beulah Osborn of Carthage was granted a divorce from Wayne Osborn last Friday and given custody of two minor children. A property settlement was approved.
Mrs. Robert McKain and Mrs. Richard Harrold attended the annual luncheon at the Rushville Durbin Hotel last Wednesday. Speaker was Mrs. Iane Harrington of Chesterton, Republican National Committee member from Indiana.
Rush Lodge No. 580 F and A M calls a stated meeting at 7 30 p m on Wednesday November 4 1959. Lee Patton is the Worshipful Master.
Russell Earnest 67 of Daytona Florida will be buried Friday at 2 p m with services at Daytona. Oliver Earnest of Carthage is a brother. Surviving are his wife a stepson and one sister.

It recalls teachers and students from Southport High in Indianapolis and local visitors, Halloween party plans, geography lessons on France, fractions, and Babylonia, plus senior plays and a county health unit. The issue lists school colors blue and white the Raiders 1959 60, and community notices including God Citizen’s Day and a car wash fundraiser.

Mr and Mrs Forrest Moore and their son Captain F N Moore and family returned home last weekend after a ten day trip to Midwest City Oklahoma. En route they enjoyed the scenic drive through the Ozark Mountains.
The Women of the Christian Women Fellowship plan an all day trip on Thursday, November 5 to the Emily Flynn Home in Marion Indiana. They will bring gifts of canned goods and hospital supplies.
The Carthage Band Boosters organization will meet Tuesday at 7 30 p m at the school for an important business session.
The Carthage Town Election will be held next Tuesday November 3 1959 at Town Hall from 6 am to 6 pm CST. Voters must be residents of Carthage for specified periods and be 21 or older. Ballot includes six council trustees and a clerk treasurer, term four years starting January 1 1960.
