Eleven members of the Mixers Home Ec Club visited Indianapolis last Thursday. They toured the State School for the Deaf and the Medallion Home on the Circle, then spent the afternoon shopping. Participants included Barbara White, Mary Bush, Mary Nigh, Gladys Butler, Maxine Mann, Virginia Johnson, Joenita Schneider, Virginia Whitfield, Betty Sullivan, Betty Delon, and Lois Ruth Shields.

Major Surgeries Reported At Rush Memorial Hospital
Mrs. Frank Alexander underwent major surgery at Rush Memorial Hospital Monday. Mrs. Forrest Beck was admitted Sunday and had major surgery Monday. Miss Thelma Gray of Carthage also had major surgery Monday at Rush Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Essie Bowling of Dunreith suffered a stroke Friday and is convalescing at her daughter’s home in Carthage with improvement noted.

Watkins Sell Farm to Spauldings in Brown County Move
Mr and Mrs Billy Watkins sold their farm on R R 1 to Mr and Mrs Irvin Spaulding and family of Indianapolis with ownership transfer on November 1. Watkins bought 33 acres located 3 1/2 miles south of Nashville in Brown County along State Road 0. Harris Ernest Thompson 57 died Monday evening after a heart attack in his Carthage area home. Services were Thursday at 2 pm at Farris Funeral Home in Science Hill Kentucky.

Privates Parish and Ruby Begin Artillery Training at Fort Sill
Army Privates Billie M. Parish and Michael C. Ruby of Carthage Indiana start eight weeks of advanced artillery training at Fort Sill Oklahoma. They will complete training November 6 in 105 millimeter howitzer cannoneer duties following basic training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri. Parish is 19 and is the son of Russell and Miriam Parish. Ruby is 19 and the son of Clyde and unnamed Ruby. Both are 1958 Carthage High School graduates and pursued college studies.

Carthage FFA Chapter selects sweetheart at October meeting
The Carthage school hosted an FFA meeting at 7 00 slow time on October 19. Ronnie Sullivan presided and Tom Tucker acted as secretary. Joe Foust presented the treasurer's report after roll call. The group discussed selecting a Chapter Sweetheart and chose Jane Hunt after interviewing many candidates.

The Rush County Corn and Farm Products Show will run December 17 to 19 with setup on December 17 and exhibits accepted Thursday to Friday noon.
