Public Card Party and Dessert at Legion Auxiliary

The American Legion Auxiliary invites all to a card party at the Community Center basement on Wednesday November 2 from 1 to 3 pm. Euchre bridge and canasta games, prizes at each table and a door prize will be awarded. A smorgasbord of refreshments will follow during the social period.

Skating Party for 8th and 9th Graders in Carthage

The Carthage School 8th and 9th graders enjoyed a skating party Friday night at Maxwell Skating rink. They traveled by two school buses led by Robert Nigh and Elmer Fenner. Adults present included sponsors Tom Mercer and Mrs Merzer Vera Compton, along with several parents and guests.

Ruby to Appear on Radio With Vivian Discusses Session

Representative John A. Ruby will join Vivian Pearson on the morning radio show Visit with Vivian on station WSMT FM Greenfield 99.5 November 2 between 10 and 11 a.m. They will discuss the upcoming legislative session past accomplishments and youth in politics. Ruby says the appearance gives voters a chance to know the candidate and his views.

Winfields Vacation Across Midwest Texas and Michigan

Mr and Mrs Arthur Winfield spent two weeks visiting their daughters during his vacation from the State Bank of Carthage. They traveled by plane to Jackson Michigan to see Fred I Doebber and family and Jon. They then stayed five days with J Spencer Lloyd in Dallas and visited J Boone and son in Austin before returning home Monday.

Chemical Burst Injures Youth in Carthage Yard

Abva, a Carthage student, suffered serious eye injuries after a chemical explosion at Ralph and Ada McClurg’s home. The accident occurred Tuesday after school when he and two classmates mixed chemicals in the yard. He received care at Rush Memorial Hospital and Robert Long Hospital in Indianapolis. witnesses were Mike McClurg and Terry Shutt.

Homemakers Ago-go Club Meets at Mrs Mercer Home

Mrs. Tom Mercer and co host Mrs Gary McClurg hosted the Homemakers Ago go Club meeting Tuesday with thirteen members present. James Neal presided as president guiding the Creed roll call minutes and reports. Mrs Fitch taught Yeast Bread demonstrated onion bread samples and lessons. Teachers Meet In Convention Strong Schools theme guides ISTA gathering

About 46 000 Indiana State Teachers Association members will attend the 113th annual Conference on Instruction October 27 and 28 with sessions in Indianapolis and divisional meetings in Fort Wayne South Bend Hammond Evansville Jeffersonville and Muncie. ISTA leaders say a strong school system is the teachers and administrators shared concern and that teachers deserve a voice in decisions affecting public schooling.

Lions Club Completes Walnut Project in Six States

Carthage Lions Club finished its walnut drive shipping 1100 bushels of green walnuts to nurseries in six states. Landowners provided gathering access while a Walnut Committee named James Ellis, Leonard Jackson, and Tom Shields led efforts.
