Rushville Christian church hosts World Community Day on November 4 at 10 30 a m with a covered dish luncheon at noon. Attendees bring their own table service and parcels for peace including clothing for boys 16 and up and materials for shirts. Eight cents per pound covers mailing costs and leprosy colony money should be given to Mrs R B Bradley.
Mr and Mrs Fred McManus left Wednesday morning for Ft Pierce Florida to spend the winter months in the sunshine state.

Mr and Mrs Wilbur McCorkle have been informed their son Melvin is now a private first class in Kaiserslautern Germany.
Mrs. Howard E. Henley and Miss Alta Carfield attended the Five Year Meeting at Richmond on Saturday. Mrs. Murray Kenworthy of New London joined them on the trip home and visited friends until Sunday, when Mr. and Mrs. Henley took her back to Richmond. The Kenworthys were former Carthage residents when the late Rev. Kenworthy led the Friends church.
Indiana Wesleyan Methodist Conference vice president Rev Vestal Van Matre will be the guest speaker at both services on October 30 at Carthage Wesleyan Methodist Church. Everyone is invited to attend.
Mrs. Rachel King and Mrs. Betty Brooks attended the 12th district meeting of the Order of Eastern Star on Saturday October 22 at Sulphur Springs.
Mr and Mrs Fred Magee depart Friday for Williamsburg Virginia for discharge from service at Ft Custer on November 4.
Marion Stewart of Amarillo Texas returns to camp after a 30 day furlough due to his grandfather Ezra Rumple’s illness. Rumple is reported as unimproved.

The 46th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Mathley was marked with a dinner and radio talk in Anderson. Family visits included Mr. and Mrs. Russell Owers and children, John Bacher, Eric Mathley, and gifts noted. A Silver wedding anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. Maie Magee was celebrated at home with relatives from New Castle, Dunreith, Knightstown, Carthage, and Alaska sending congratulations.
Carthage High School Band won a 1st Division Superior rating at the Marching Contest held at Southport High School last Saturday October 22. Under drum majorette Mary Shutt the band performed twelve maneuvers and a special routine earning plaques and blue rib bon medals for each member. John Medjeski directed the band in Class C competition with 13 bands entered and peers Knightstown Charlottesville and Morton Memorial also receiving top ratings.
Morning worship led by Pastor Louis Barrett invites all. Afternoon service at 2 includes saxophone quartet from Charlottesville and sextet from South Marion Friends church. Guest speaker Rev. Walter McAdams of Am boy Friends church, former Walnut Ridge pastor.
A letter praising the Carthage School Band notes their 1st division finish at the State Marching Contest in Indianapolis and multiple high placements this year. Director John Medjeski is highlighted for steady leadership as 47 band members, including 14 newcomers, prepare to perform at home games and Butler University Homecoming.
The Kappa Kappa Sigma sorority met October 20 at the Community Center with Mrs. Lee Patton and Mrs. Wayne Osborn hosting. They donated to the Salvation Army, discussed plans for a future visit by Grand Inspector Miss Marian Brandt, and welcomed new members Mrs. Harold Hardin Mrs. Eldon Plank and Miss Sharon Sipes. A bridge and canasta social followed with honors to several members and refreshments served by the hosts. Bridge Club hosted by Mrs. Nelle Beher at Holiday Lodge in Cleveland with dinner and bridge. attendees included Mrs. Helen Ruby and Mrs. Willella Henley plus guests.
The Indiana season begins Tuesday November 1 with many small schools in action. Carthage and Arlington start Tuesday night. Mays opens Wednesday at home against Manilla, and the local squad plays its first home game Friday November 11 versus Knightstown.
The PTA sponsors a community Halloween party for all school children at the Carthage Community Center with a downtown parade at 7 30 p m prizes for prettiest ugliest most original funniest best dressed couple and best ghost and refreshments of cider and doughnuts. If weather is bad no parade will be held and all attendees must be masked.
The Indiana Department of Conservation issues deer hunting rules. Licenses required. penalties include fines up to 250 dollars and jail time for violations. Deer may be hunted by bow or specified shotguns and only in designated Tippecanoe River State Park areas with maps provided.
Mr. and Mrs. Noah Leisure joined Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Privett for a Sunday dinner in Rushville. They shared a smorgasbord at New Salem and later had supper at the Privett home with Mr. and Mrs. James Tarbet. Also visiting were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Gahimer of Homer and Mrs. Clara Delinger's household.
