Carthage Girl Injured In Bus Stop Truck Accident

Rita Johnson, kindergarten pupil and daughter of Clyde and Mrs. Johnson, was seriously hurt Tuesday morning when she crossed the highway in front of a Charlottesville truck driven by Gene Silver while awaiting a school bus. She suffered a broken collar bone bruises and a slight concussion and was taken to Hancock County Hospital in Greenfield.

Revival to Start at East Street Church This Sunday

New Salem Eagles Top Carthage In Season Opener

The New Salem Eagles defeated Carthage 81 67 on the New Salem court to open the season. Salem built a lead early but collapsed defensively in the final period while Eagles shooter base Stone scored 14 of 26 in the late stretch. Carthage led 24 17 after the first quarter and trailed 38 36 at halftime as the game stayed tight through the third. Carthage seconds beat the host 37 31.

Purdue Varsity Glee Club En Route For West Virginia Florida New Jersey

John Ruby will lead the Purdue Varsity Glee Club on a tour from Lafayette starting Sunday November 6. At the farm of the late Walter Nelson near Carthage friends and neighbors will pick his corn crop Saturday with early arrival requested. If rain falls the work will move to Wednesday.
