Relatives report Lee Nixon in critical condition after a stroke in Wassington D C. In Anderson at St John’s hospital a son Curtis Alan weighed 6 lbs 6 oz born Oct 8 to Darrell and Mary Ann McNutt nee Magee.
Ray Allen Stevens, son of Mr and Mrs John R Stevens, fell from an upstairs window Friday at 10 am, suffering a fractured skull. He was treated at Henry County hospital and released to home where he remains confined to bed.
Mr and Mrs George Winslow will observe their 60th wedding anniversary on Monday October 22 at their home. Due to Mrs Winslow s health they will not host an open house.
Mr and Mrs Oliver Earnest attended the funeral at Wyatt Moore Memorial for Mrs Bessie Earnest who died Friday at Rush Memorial hospital at 130 am. Burial was in Arlington East Hill cemetery. Survivors include husband Roland a daughter Kathryn Swain of Posey Township three sons Howard Dallas and Robert of Rushville a brother Brainard Nelson of Morristown eighteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Barbara Ann Davis of 13 North Main Street Carthage and daughter of Mr and Mrs Roscoe Davis has joined the Delta Delta sorority on the Butler University campus. She is a sophomore majoring in medical technology.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Wilson of Carthage welcomed a son, Bruce Eugene, weighing 8 lbs 1 oz, born Friday at Rush Memorial hospital. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Paul Clevidence of Carthage.
Local recital lists performers Ann Campbell Arlene and Cathy Ruby Kellis Veach and David Ruby among participants. Attendees include Trina Clayton Mardell Wrightsman Gary Clayton and families of Campbell and Ruby. A reception for students and guests followed at the Blazer residence.

Numerous dinners and visits noted including Mr and Mrs Higgins of St Louis and Joe Whitfield. Bob Campbell of the U S Navy is on a 15 day leave visiting relatives.
Indiana educators from around the state gather for the 103rd ISTA convention in Indianapolis October 25 and 26. About 20,000 teachers are expected in the capital, with 12,000 more at division meetings in Evansville Fort Wayne Hammond and South Bend. The event features national speakers, gubernatorial candidates, and a 1000 voice Indiana Choral Festival.

Five Knightstown youths aged 15 to 18 were arrested at about 2:00 a.m. Thursday by Town Marshall Hugh Trowbridge and State Trooper Walter Love after stealing parts from James McGeorge’s tractor. They are to appear in Rush County court Saturday morning with parents.
