Mr and Mrs Ronnie Draper of Arlington Route 1 announce the birth of a daughter named Barbara Kay born Sunday September 27 at Rush Memorial Hospital. She is the granddaughter of Mr and Mrs Leonard Wrightsman and Mr and Mrs Wayne Draper of Carthage.
Mr. and Mrs. Uni Fitch and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Sherwood spent a week at Silver Lake for a vacation and have returned home. The trip brought together two local couples from here and Brookville.
Postmaster William Alexander attended a two day Postmaster's Training Institute beginning Monday at the Claypool Hotel in Indianapolis. The sessions covered new mail system procedures and service improvements for local offices.
A baby boy was born Friday to Mr. and Mrs. William Tumilty at Rush Memorial Hospital. The birth adds a new member to the Tumilty family.
Voters must register by Monday October 5 1964. Mrs Joyce Harold, also known as Joyce Harrold, has registration blanks available at her business location.
Mr and Mrs DuWayne Whitfield of Indianapolis welcome Robin Ann born Tuesday September 22 weighing 8 pounds 3 ounces. Grandparents are Mrs Beulah Whitfield of White Springs Florida and Carthage.
Arthur White of Carthage sustained a painful injury to his left hand Saturday night when his middle fingers were caught in an overhead garage door fold. He pulled the door down and received medical attention with stitches to the finger.
Mrs. Raymond Kennedy and daughters Miss Judith Kennedy and Lynn Kennedy attended the Ball State versus Butler football game in Muncie. Lynn, a Band member, performed at the game while Judy and Lynn were home from school from Friday through Sunday.
Mrs Iva Cook spent Friday through Sunday visiting at the home of her son and family Mr and Mrs Donald Cook in Chicago. Another son Wallace Cook Mrs Cook and two daughters from San Francisco joined the group for the visit in Chicago.

Mr. and Mrs. James Johnson of Rochester Indiana are the parents of a son born Wednesday September 23. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lon McCorkle and Mrs. Johnson was formerly Esther McCorkle of Carthage.
Mrs Dorthy Moore of Carthage underwent surgery Wednesday at Henry Co hospital. Mr and Mrs Fred McManus show improvement at Rush. Fred Flick is much improved at Methodist Hospital and may come home soon. Mrs Oran Henley improving at her Carthage home. J B Gardner ill at Arlington R R home this week. Mrs Anna Phelps convalescing at Rushville Nursing Home this week.
The 1964 Carthage Fall Festival ended Saturday with a large crowd at the annual dance. Proceeds support the Tweedy Community Center, with many event chairmen reporting earnings at or above 1963. Miss Jeanie Stapp won Miss Congeniality, prizes given during the ceremony. A 24-act Festival Follies featured Denise Stephens and others from Indianapolis and Versailles. The parade highlighted 26 groups including the Legion Color Guard, bands, floats, and awards for floats, bicycles, pets, ponies, and riders. Prizes included cash for floats and bands, plus a portable TV and a transistor radio as awards.
Members are reminded to attend the regular Carthage Band Boosters meeting on Tuesday October 6 1964 at 7 30 p m in the school band room for updates and planning.
The Hancock County Rescue Unit will sponsor a Sunday Turkey Shoot across from Riley Park in Greenfield every week from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The first shoot is Sunday October 4 and proceeds fund new emergency equipment and supplies for the unit.
Jeannine Terhune a Taylor University junior from Knightstown Indiana has been named a member of the select 75 voice Taylor University Chorale announced by Professor Marvin G Dean head of the Fine Arts Division and director of the group. The acclaimed choir travels across the East and Midwest and Terhune also serves in the Music Club Methodist Student Movement Gamma Delta Beta Society and is yearbook editor and Trojan Players secretary. Taylor University is a 119 year old Christian liberal arts college with 888 students.

Seniors should register for the Dec 5 SAT by Nov 5, with National Merit and PSAT options noted. The Carthage Legion Auxiliary will meet Monday October 5 at 8 p.m. at the Community Center. Mrs Frank Hampton and Mrs Kenneth Rhodes will serve as hostesses.
Mr and Mrs Donald Revolt and their two children visited Sunday with Mrs Winifred Gray and Miss Thelma Gray in a family reunion style gathering reflecting social norms of the period.
Opening games across three sites Morton Milroy and New Salem posted wins in the county baseball tourney. Morton toppled Manilla 6 to 3 led by Carmichael double and three runs while Coleman worked all 7 innings fanning ten. Milroy surged past Arlington 8 to 1 as Hendrickson doubled and Jarboe added a double and single. New Salem routed Mays 11 to 1 with Linville Dalrymple Bergman and Jarman collecting two hits each to pace the win. The schedule sets semifinals Friday with Carthage facing Milroy at Milroy and Morton meeting New Salem, then the title game next Tuesday.
Timothy Gene McCorkle infant son of Robert E and Carolyn Patterson McCorkle of Carthage was stillborn at Rush Memorial Hospital at 4 15 p m last Friday. Survivors include parents a brother Robbie and a sister Stephanie all at home grandparents Patterson Carthage McCorkle Carthage great grandparents Lewis New Salem Patterson Milroy Whitfield and Lon McCorkle Carthage. Graveside rites were conducted at 2 p m Sunday at Town Cemetery Carthage by Rev James Shanahan St Rose of Lima. Hampton Mortuary Carthage handled arrangements.
Mrs Basil Hedgecock of Idaho Springs Colorado arrived Tuesday to visit her mother Mrs Anna Phelps at Rushville Nursing Home and Mr and Mrs Eugene I Gardner and their son J B plus other relatives.

He argued the federal climate supports a thriving economy, warned against Court directed reapportionment, and urged rural influence, increased Social Security, while opposing an anti poverty act. The talk reflected his Indiana General Assembly and Congress service.
George Parvel Moore a retired lumber manufacturer and longtime Carthage area resident died at his Rushville home last Saturday morning. He was born March 31, 1901, and had worked with George B. Moore and Sons sawmill, served as director of First Federal Savings and Loan, and as an appraiser for the savings bank. He leaves Mary Moorman Moore widow, a daughter Charlotte Norris, a son Elvet Moore, two brothers Otto and Forrest, a sister Marjorie Cushing and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Wyatt Moore Memorial with burial in East Hill Shrine Mausoleum.
