Boxes Mailed to Viet Nam by Carthage Auxiliary

The American Legion Auxiliary of Carthage prepared and mailed airmail boxes to Ripley Two servicemen in Viet Nam. They were sent to L Cpl. Edward A. McMahan Sgt. Larry J. Marsh Pvt. William Loveall Jr Sgt. Ray Dye and Sgt. Curtis A. Lewman. Corn Picked For Ill Neighbor By Local Group

A Saturday morning corn harvest was organized by friends and neighbors for Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Truitt to aid the ill resident. Participants included Leonard Sullivan Jr, Ronald Sullivan, Darrell Rowan, Allen Rowan, Frank Alexander, Foster Wilson, Glen Conaway, Gilbert Tinsley, Robert McKain, Harold Davis, Carl Davis, Wayne Draper, Roy Pitts, and Kenneth Land.

10th District Firemen Meet in Hope Station

The 10th District Indiana Volunteer Firemen's Association met at Hope Fire Station with about fifty firemen and guests from twelve departments. Reports included 31 runs since October. leaders included James Glaub, Carlos Jeffries, and Paul Becker. A power outage discussion led to calls for auxiliary generators and an Air Force film on emergency procedures. The next meeting is January 13 at St. Paul Fire Station. no December session.

Survival Course Meeting Held in Carthage Community Center

A Tuesday evening meeting at the Carthage Community Center discussed a Civil Defense course titled Personal and Family Survival for Carthage and Knightstown residents. Captain Richard Pea of the Rushville Police explained the 12 hour program, its rationale, and enrollment details, with a tentative December 28 first session and certificates on completion.

4 H Leaders Banquet Honors Local Adults In Rushville

A large crowd attended the 17th annual 4 H Leaders Recognition Dinner at the Durbin Hotel in Rushville. The event featured a Wen Melas performance from New Salem High School, with drinks by John S. Anderson as toastmaster and Rev. Josef Palat delivering the invocation. Pins and certificates were awarded to long time and first year leaders in both girls and boys clubs, with several 10 and 30 year pins noted.
