The Carthage Radio and Appliance Shop kicks off the Christmas season with an annual all night sale this Friday December 3. The store offers special prices and many bargains available throughout the night for early Christmas shopping.
Mr. and Mrs. John Hunt of Lafayette Indiana are parents of a daughter named Kathryn Ann born November 26 1965 weighing 6 lb 15 oz Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Ralph Moore of Greenfield R R and Mr and Mrs Sharon Hunt R R 2 Carthage.
The South Marion Young Men’s Quartet of South Marion Indiana Church will lead morning worship this Sunday December 5 at Walnut Ridge Friends Church. Special numbers in song and instrumental music planned. Everyone is invited to attend.
Mr and Mrs Maurice Lukens and daughter Candi returned from a ten day Florida vacation Relatives and friends visited were their daughter and family 1st Lt and Mrs Ronald Gatewood and children at Pensacola Florida Mr and Mrs Arlis Lukens and family at Palm Beach Florida and they spent one day and night with Rev and Mrs Chester Davis and family at Apopka Florida former Methodist minister here at Carthage
Pvt Gary Petry of Ft. Knox Kentucky is home for an eighteen day furlough with his family Mr and Mrs Quentin Petry of R J He was accompanied here from camp Wednesday by Mr and Mrs Dahl Petry.
Mrs Clarence Heim returned home Sunday after a two week visit with her daughter and family in New York. Her sons Mike and Marvin joined for Thanksgiving and Mr and Mrs Charles Morris of near Knightstown were Thanksgiving guests.
Rev. Stanley Palicki of Carthage enters Methodist Hospital Sunday for back surgery in room 620B. Mrs. Eugene Dudley of Carthage goes to Community Hospital for tests and observation. Eugene Mlekush of Carthage hospitalized at Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. Mrs. A W Winfield and Mrs. Nelle Newby of Carthage admitted to Rush Memorial Hospital this week. Judy Kennedy recovering from surgery at St Vincent's Hospital. Roy Yorkless at Rush Memorial for tests. Arthur White remains about the same at Major Hospital Shelbyville.
The Ewing family reunion took place on Thanksgiving Day at the Carthage Community Center with guests from Indianapolis Mt. Comfort MacCordsville Knightstown and Carthage attending.
Mr and Mrs Tiyes Fitch and their children moved into a new three bedroom brick house located three miles southwest of Carthage during the past week.
A Swine Extension School will be held in Rush County on Thursday evening December 2 at 7:45 PM at the Production Credit Association Building. Ralph Watkins will speak on Wearing More and Better Pigs. All Rush County farmers are invited to attend for ideas to increase hog income with light refreshments served.

Captain Leland K. Lukens of Palm Beach Florida and Carthage connections earned the Air Force Distinguished Flying Cross for meritorious achievement at Bien Hoa and for saving aircraft from fire. He flew with the 1st Air Commando Squadron, logged over 170 combat missions since 1964, and performed daring taxiing to clear burning planes after a May bombing. He also strafed targets with napalm and rockets during July operations under heavy fire.
Joseph Porter and Mrs. Eugene Miekush with daughter Charlene of Carthage attended the wedding of Richard Ream to Karen Farmer at the Metha Church in Gibson City Illinois on Sunday afternoon.
Mr and Mrs Robert Walker return to their home on R R 2 Carthage after a three week vacation to Florida where they visited Mrs Walker s brother Mr and Mrs Leonard Ruby at Fort Lauderdale Florida.

Mr and Mrs Russell Leisure were guests at the Thanksgiving Day gathering hosted by Mr and Mrs Harry Faulkner in Rushville.
Charlotte Kyser Risk 88 of Carthage died at Hillside Haven Nursing Home Rushville. Born September 16 1877 in Hancock County she married Roland Risk in 1896. Surviving nieces nephews and Kyser relatives. Rev Luther Williams conducted service at Hampton Mortuary Carthage with burial in Riverside Cemetery.

Henry Stinger 82 formerly of Carthage died Wednesday evening in Indianapolis where he had lived with his son at 414 Arlington Ave. He is survived by a granddaughter Cheryl. Irvington Chapel Funeral Home handles arrangements. Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Saturday with burial at Glen Cove Cemetery Knightstown.

Milroy Cardinals easily bested Carthage's Raiders 93 to 65 in Milroy gym. Eakins led Milroy with 18 points in the first half as the Cardinals built a large halftime margin. Craig Lafuse led Raiders with 17 points. Dave Hunt had 14, and Milroy reserves won 35 29.
The Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church observed its 25th anniversary during a Christmas dinner meeting at the church. The program featured chalk drawings by Mrs. Lawrence Wright, singing led by Mrs. Helen Magruder, a history of the W S C S, and remarks on the United Nations Peace Center.

Officials note Rush County lacks county zoning and planning, unlike neighboring counties, and urge leaders to attend to learn advantages and disadvantages and decide on a county program.

Mr and Mrs Donald Harper entertained at their Greenfield home for Thanksgiving with their daughters Missi and Chrys. Guests included Mr and Mrs Jeff Leisure Miss Ethel Posey and Mr and Mrs Carl Davis of R2 Carthage and Mrs Eva Leisure and daughter Connie of Greenfield.
Mr and Mrs Harold Culbertson attended Thanksgiving dinner at Rushville with Mrs Irving Downey and her daughter visiting her sister in law.
