At a Wednesday night board meeting held at Mrs Vera McNabb home the Tweedy Memorial Community Center elected officers for the coming year President Harold Ruby Vice-President Albert Terhune Secretary Mrs Ralph Mosier and Treasurer Robert Winters.
Winners at the Bob Nigh and Sons Grand Opening last Friday and Saturday included Joe Alexander for a transistor radio and Mrs Alma Foust for an electric can opener.
Mrs. Fern Dearinger died Saturday at her daughter Mrs. Clifford Hill’s home in Homer. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Carmony Funeral Home in Shelbyville with attendees including Mrs. Orval Safewright and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Dearinger of Rushville and Mrs. Clara Delinger of Carthage. The deceased was a sister in law of Mrs. Clara Delinger of Carthage.
Mr A W Winfield attended the Indiana Association of County Welfare Board Members meeting and luncheon held last Thursday at the Columbia Club in Indianapolis.
Frank Mourey sues William E. and Mary L. Springman to recover 605 dollars paid to First National Bank of Knightstown after they defaulted on a 895.47 loan signed jointly with the plaintiff on January 2 1960. He seeks judgment for 605 plus 200 for attorney fees.
Mr and Mrs Albert Terhune and son Joe and Mr and Mrs Loren White of Greenfield spent Sundays with Mr and Mrs Jim Terhune and daughter Betsy at Bloomington. Mrs Albert Terhune and son Johnny visited Miss Jeannine Terhune at Taylor University Saturday morning.
Chi-Rho Youth held a Sunday meeting at the church with six attendees. Rev Boulton presented a lesson titled Young Youth. The group played games and shared refreshments before closing at 7 50 p m. The reporter invites sixth graders and older to attend.
Steve Ellis and Miss Carol Ellis of Carthage and Debbie Ellis of Rushville attended the Chad Mitchell Trio concert at Clowes Hall Sunday afternoon.
Mr and Mrs Jerry Edwards of Carthage announce the birth of a son on November 12 at Rush Memorial Hospital. The infant joins the family as proud parents and hospital staff record the event.
The Rev and Mrs Ernest Garner and their three children have moved to the Carthage Nazarene parsonage where he accepted the appointment as minister of the Nazarene Church. He studied at Union Bible Seminary and previously led the Edinburg Nazarene Church for two years.
Rev. Stanley Palicki of Fletcher Methodist attended a district meeting at Osgood Methodist Church Monday morning. Dr. Lee Jarrett spoke on the Preachers' Aid Society.

A Cub Scout pack will not meet next Wednesday because of a Union Thanksgiving service at Friends Church. The next pack meeting is scheduled for December 15 1965 at the Community Center.
The Union Thanksgiving service for Carthage will be held at 7 30 p m Wednesday November 24 at Carthage Friends Church Reverend Paul Boulton of East St Christian Church will deliver the Thanksgiving message Special music will be provided by the local school music department All are invited to attend
Marvin Leo Masters age 21 of Route 2 Vanceburg Ky in the U S Army and Patricia Darlene Elza age 17 of Carthage apply for a marriage license. Thanksgiving Day closes Post Office all day November 25 1965 with no mail. service resumes November 26 1965.
Mr and Mrs Alvin Davis of Knightstown R 2 announce the birth of a 9 lb 12% oz son named James Allen born Tuesday November 9 at Rush Memorial Hospital He is grandson of Mr and Mrs Harmon Davis R 2 Knightstown and Mr and Mrs Harold A Davis of R 2 Carthage.
The CROP drive begins next Monday for two weeks to raise funds for Church World Service. Ripley Township seeks a $250 quota with house to house canvassing for corn or cash. Donations support hunger relief in lands of free people.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jackson hosted a Sunday supper at their home after the wedding of their son Eldon to Miss Carole Todd at the Methodist Church. Attendees included families from Ft. Wayne Churubusco Knightstown Anderson Greenfield and Greenfield.
Morton 8th graders rolled past Carthage 44 to 21 on Tuesday night. Plummer and Schafstall combined for 30 points leading Morton’s offense as the hosts dominated the game.
Mrs. Mabel H. Souder aged 81 of 1002 N State Street Greenfield died at Hancock Memorial Hospital at 4 am Tuesday. A lifelong resident and practical nurse, she belonged to Bradley Methodist Church and is survived by grandson Jack Hagans three great grandchildren brother Claude Custer daughter in law Mrs Josephine Hagans and nephew Jesse Custer Kokomo. Homer Hagans predeceased her. Funeral 2 pm Thursday at Pasco Memorial Mortuary with Rev R Edwin Green officiating. Interment Park Cemetery.
The Carthage Raiders defeated Laurel 53 to 40 last Friday, giving new varsity coach Richard Trubey his first win. The Carthage B team also won one and lost one in two games, with the reserves falling 40 to 32 at Southwestern.
Laurel defeats Laurel second team 29 to 23 as local lads surge in the final period. For Carthage, Pearson leads with 8 points followed by Gillespie 6 and several players scoring between 1 and 5 points.
Mr and Mrs Foster Wilson hosted a Saturday supper for their son Foster Wayne to mark his 16th birthday. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Robert Proctor and daughters of Rushville and Mr and Mrs Tives Fitch and children of Carthage.
James Hillis spends Saturday and Sunday at Butler University for Fathers Day activities and visits his son Jim.
The Student Council plans a Thanksgiving convocation with Rev. Stanley R. Palicki addressing in the gym at 3 00 p m on Wednesday November 24. The high school chorus will sing Kum Ba Yah and Accept Our Thanks. Dismissal is 3 30 p m and classes resume 8 30 a m November 29.
The play cast begins final week of practice for No Boys Allowed scheduled Saturday November 20 at 8 00. Students note graduation feels closer with announcements caps and gowns ordered and trip planned before vacation.
Earlham College in Richmond will compete on NBC TV's GE College Bowl on November 21. Team members include captain Gordon Fisher and Brad Nutting, with Susan Abelow and Bill Adkins, plus freshman Frank Purcell backing them. Coaches are Bruce Pearson and assistants from physics English and psychology.

Maurice Williamson presented a Meritorious Service Award to Jesse Peters for contributions to agriculture and community affairs. tours of the Carthage Container Corporation Wood pulp plant followed the banquet and business session attended by 39 former Purdue students and spouses.
Miss Claudia Butler and Fred M. Smith Jr announce their engagement. Claudia Butler is from Rushville R R 3 and a Mays High School graduate attending Indiana Business College. Fred Smith, son of Mr and Mrs Fred Smith of Falmouth, is a Milligan College student. The wedding is planned for January 29, 1966 at Raleigh Christian Church.
