The Center Group of Connersville District Epworth Leaguers met Monday at Fletcher M E Church with 80 youths from Manilla Milroy Rushville Greensburg Connersville Arlington Greensburg Carthage. High school students provided music assisted by a 30 piece Primary Band. Rev C W Whitman spoke on Lifes Ideals and Rev J S Ward addressed The Christian Grip. Supper followed at the public auditorium basement and a social hour of games ended the event.
A coal oil stove exploded in the kitchen of A. B. Shriner at 3 30 p m Friday causing a fire. The residence owned by H J Catt of Anderson was saved, Mrs Shriner escaped injury and the fire was confined to the kitchen with about 250 dollars loss including clothes an electric washer and kitchen items no insurance.
Thanksgiving day closures affect most Carthage businesses with the post office operating only for two mail runs in morning and evening. Bank, Library and Citizen office shut all day. A service is planned at East Street Christian Church Wednesday November 25 at 7:00 pm with Rev J I Meyer. Community Dinner at 50 cents per plate hosted by Ripley Country Club Wednesday 5 to 7 pm in the Auditor ium basement. tickets optional at the door.
