Residence of Robertsons Burns Near Greenfield

The Robertson residence two miles west of Greenfield burned at 7 a.m. Wednesday with near total loss of contents. Estimated damage runs to $3,000, suspected to start from burning soot. Frank Reddick arrived Thursday noon from Miami Florida.

Owen S Hill 87 Pioneer Citizen Dies in Knightstown

Owen S Hill age 87 longtime resident and business man dies Sunday fore noon at 11 30 in Knightstown home of Mr and Mrs Walter B Hill after nine weeks illness. He taught, ran a grocery, owned a drug store then a book and variety store and did notary and insurance work. He received a gold medal for 35 years with Continental Life Insurance. Funeral at Friends Church in Knightstown Tuesday at two with a quartet providing music. Burial Walnut Ridge cemetery. Out of town attendees include Hill relatives and other area residents.

Owen S Hill lifelong Carthage grocer and educator dies at 87

Owen S Hill born February 7 1838 in Ripley township Rush county Indiana died November 15 1925 at his daughter's home Knightstown Indiana age 87 years 9 months 8 days He taught in Morgan County and near home and served as Carthage school principal in 1871 He married Melissa A Bales in 1886 and Lizzie Pierce in 1887 He was a druggist school board president notary and Rush County Bar member A lifelong Friends Church member and Sunday School teacher upheld church and Bible class work until age limited his teaching role

Kiwanis Dance Set for Knightstown Gym Friday Night

Knightstown Kiwanis Club announces a November 27 dance with Jeanette Synco, piano and song numbers, Umbrella and Charleston specials, moonlight waltz, and more. Proceeds go to aid poor children at Christmas. dancing couples pay $1.50 and spectators 25 cents.

Thanksgiving Observance Shuts Local Businesses

Stores will close for Thanksgiving next Thursday. Most business houses shut. The Post Office remains open for two mail deliveries only in morning and evening with no rural delivery. Banks, libraries and the citizen office close all day.
