Pete Ewing and his son John plus Ricky Hampton attended the Purdue University football game against Wisconsin Saturday. They were guests of Allen Vandiventer of Terre Haute who attends Purdue.
The Goodwill Truck will be at the home of Mrs. Gouldie Kyser early Wednesday morning November 17 for items donated from the Carthage area. Have your articles at Mrs. Kyser's by that date.
The Carthage Brotherhood and Sisterhood will hold a regular meeting Monday at 7 30 p m at the Community Center.
Mr and Mrs John Brown relocated last Wednesday from Carthage to their home in Manilla. Autrey Lunsford and family moved from R 2 into the Browns former South Main Street house.
Mr and Mrs Forest Marshall of Carthage and their son and wife Mr and Mrs Richard Marshall of Indianapolis attended Dad's Day at Purdue Saturday. They joined Purdue's football game against Wisconsin and later were dinner guests of Steve Marshall at Tarkington Hall on campus.
Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clara Delinger included Mrs. Flem Burton Mrs. Wendell Dearinger and Mrs. Lavern Lower from Homer. Mr. and Mrs. Edd Carter of Spiceland and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Dearinger of Rushville also dropped by on Sunday and Monday.
Rush County selective service reports local volunteer Stanley E. Back has been accepted for service with the United States Marines this week.
Bob Nigh and Sons announce the grand opening of their Sinclair Station recently leased from Wilson Oil Company of Rushville. The event invites friends to explore products with a special offer: six free Cokes on Friday and Saturday with each purchase of 8 gallons of Dino or Supreme gasoline.
Mrs Albert Ray received a silver cup and five dollars for the best flower arrangement in the artistic division at the State African Violet Convention in Indianapolis at the Severin Hotel last weekend. Mrs Loyal Hunt attended the convention Friday through Sunday along with Mrs Ray Mrs Homer Hensler and Miss Ruth White on Saturday.
Word has been received that Major Curtis J Porter earned the Bronze Star for service in Viet Nam. He returned to the states late in August and is attending Instructors School for six weeks before teaching at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama. The Porter family lives at 1125 Buckingham Drive Montgomery Alabama. Major Thurman Porter Jr of Colorado Springs recently visited the family in Alabama during a trip to New Orleans.
Rush Lodge 580 of Carthage will open the E A degree this Saturday November 13 at 8 00 p m in the new Lodge Home on South Main St This is the first degree work in the new building All E A degree Masons in the area are invited A public dedication by the Grand Master is planned for January 1966 with date notice to follow
Tessie I. Trowbridge 77 of Rushville died at Hillside Haven Nursing Home at 5 p.m. Wednesday after long illness. Born December 22, 1887 in Rush County, she was the widow of Thomas Trowbridge. Survived by son Hugh L. of Carthage and several other relatives. Funeral at Moster Funeral Home Rushville Saturday at 2 p.m. with burial East Hill Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today.

Little Tommie Davis son of Mr and Mrs Joe Davis of Knights town shows improvement at Riley Hospital recovering from head injuries and surgery. Wednesday Clarence Magee of Carthage and Elizabeth Whit field of Carthage admitted to Rush Memorial Hospital.
Mr and Mrs Charles Elmore of Carthage welcomed an 8 pound 6 ounce son born Wednesday November 10 at Rush Memorial Hospital. The baby’s grandparents are Mr and Mrs Rue McDaniel of Carthage.
The Carthage Raiders opened the season with a 76 to 46 loss after a slow start. Southwestern pressed from the start and built a 30 to 10 first quarter lead as they shot well and controlled the game. The Carthage B team also fell 40 to 32 to Southwestern’s second squad.
The Carthage district thanks parents for Open House attendance and notes a cordial tone in school relations. It invites juniors and seniors to Rush County College Guidance Night at 7 30 p m December 7 with over 20 colleges represented.
The Carthage Lions Club hosted Morristown Lions Club for their annual visitation. Twenty three Morristown members attended. George Mills of New Castle showed Alaska trip reels, detailing the August journey via the Alcan Highway with his wife and family to the 49th state.
The P. T. C. held an open house with parents and relatives in their rooms. A Christmas music program was announced for December 21 at the school under music instructors Mr. Bob Edwards and Mrs. Land. Principal Byron Smith introduced County School Superintendent Mr. Harold Dick of Rushville who spoke on Federal Aid to Education. The meeting adjourned with Albert Terhune assisted by Miss Pam French and Miss Judy Zimmerman.
About one hundred women from Rush County attended World Community Day at Carthage East St. Christian Church with a 10:15 registration. Rev. Bertha Hardy opened with an invocation and Mrs. Howard Jacquess led the opening hymn. The event featured church group drama, gift dedication, a luncheon, a music number by Mr. and Mrs. Russell Nigh, and a keynote by Dr. H L Lanahan on Lallys Mission in World Affairs, with multiple area churches represented.
Twelve members of the Chi Rho group met Sunday evening at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Paul Boulton for a meeting and diener roast. Miss Kathy Wright and Miss Nancy Boulton led the program on History of.

Robert L. Winters of Carthage Indiana has been accepted for senior membership in the Indiana Society of Public Accountants ISPA. Senior membership is limited to full time practicing public accountants with accounting education and at least three years of public practice experience. ISPA is a statewide organization headquartered in Indianapolis and affiliated with the National Society of Public Accountants in Washington DC.
Fall Festival report shows a $1655.68 net profit from events and donations totaling $2231.10 with expenses of $575.42. A public meeting is announced for Nov 16 at 7 30 PM at Carthage Community Center to discuss a Civil Defense course on personal and family survival for disaster preparedness.
Mrs. Marjorie F. Smith age 36 died after being shot in the abdomen while in a car near Jaggers Tavern in Rushville. Her husband Raymond Smith 54 is jailed and the grand jury will hear charges. Norman Sharpe 37 died at the hospital. Services were held at Moster and Sons Mortuary with burial in East Hill Cemetery.
In October 1965 Rush County real estate sales reached about 521600, the third monthly high this year. Farm deals totaled 197000, non farm deals 277600, with city sales 46800 including a 15000 largest transaction and several non farm deals including a 130060 factory sale. Transfers include multiple Carthage parcels between residents and guardians and estate actions.
