Autry Lunsford takes over Carth-Knight Bowling Lanes and invites all bowlers to enjoy open play daily starting at 1 p.m. League-night hours extend after 9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, plus Wednesday 4 p.m. to 8 30 p.m., and all day Friday through Sunday.
Gary R. Siler son of Mr and Mrs J Russell Siler of Carthage was elected secretary treasurer of Platt Hall Fellowship, a group for students in one of Tri-State College Angola Indiana dorms. He is majoring in Motor Transportation Administration at Tri-State. Tri-State College, founded in 1884 at Angola Indiana, awards bachelor degrees in engineering and business administration.
The Carthage P T O sponsors an open house at Carthage School on Tuesday November 20 at 7 p m Principal Byron Smith invites guests and parents to visit classrooms and meet teachers A brief program in the gym follows for P T O members and the public.
The Carthage Brotherhood and Sisterhood invite members to a Tuesday dinner at the Community Center at 6 30 p m November 20 with sandwiches and coffee provided. Members bring a covered dish and table service. Entertainment will follow the business meeting. Change of meeting night.
Airman 2nd class and Mrs. Dan iel L. West of East Tawas Michigan announce the birth of a 7 lb 7 oz son Gary Lee on November 11 1962 at Wuertsmith Air Force Base. Mrs West formerly Martha Davis daughter of Mr and Mrs Harold A Davis of Carthage R R.
Roy Pitts of Carthage R R returned home Saturday from Rush Memorial Hospital. Ruth White underwent major surgery last Friday at Hancock Co hospital. Mrs Joseph Graff shows improvement and returned home last week Thursday. Eva Herkless convalescing at Carthage home shows improvement. James Sparks of Carthage R A convalescing at Henry Co Hospital this past week. Mrs Henry Whitfield of Carthage underwent surgery at Rush Memorial Hospital Wednesday. William Mattix entered Rush Memorial Hospital this week.
Mr and Mrs Ralph McClarnon and Mr and Mrs Hubert Hunt attended the football game between Evansville and Butler at Butler last Saturday. Dad's Day at the university featured a reception for band fathers in the new music building after the game.
The Triple F. of Carthage Friends Church met at the church with Susan Skinner, president, calling the meeting to order. Pastor Kenneth Shirk gave the devotions. Tryouts were held for the forthcoming Christmas play.
Mrs James Sparks hosted guests from Clarksville Tennessee and Daleville Indiana. Roger Dixon and son stayed over the weekend with her daughter and family. Donald Sparks and children stayed for a week. Mr James Sparks has been in Henry County hospital the past week.
Four Ways From The Office covers Open House for American Education Week at CHS with a P T O meeting schedule, guest speaker county superintendent Gerald C. Carmony, student work displays, and refreshments. Also noted are student activities, yearbook promotion, a December paper drive, junior suppers, band candy sales, and cafeteria menus.
Linda Copple majors in English history and business at CHS. She contributes to the yearbook pep block and office duties, with studies and extra activities filling her days. Linda enjoys reading and skating with friends. Her goal is business school in Indianapolis after graduation, aiming to become a secretary for an executive.
The Ca Hi Ana Dance sponsored by the yearbook staff follows the Mays ball game with admission by yearbook receipt or 25 cents. Each receipt admits one person and William Mills is the disc jockey. The event runs from 9 30 p m to 12 00 a m and four Mr and Miss Cari Ana candidates will be introduced: Freshmen Craig Lafuse Rose Conley Sophomores Richard Grizzel Patty McCorkle Juniors Gene Patterson Carol Ellis.
Funeral services for Harold L. Fannin 21 of Ging were held at 10 30 a m Thursday at Butcher Funeral Home Knights town with Rev Lawrence Adams officiating Burial followed in Glen Cove Cemetery He was born December 3 1940 in Lewis County Kentucky and had lived in the Carthage area Survivors include his widow Mrs Shirley Sawyer Fannin his parents Ezner and Mrs Fannin three sisters Helen Wilma Wanda and six brothers Paul Armel Homer Arthur Leo and Rex Allen Fannin
A Knightstown man Earl George Stockton, 25, died after his car crashed into an eastbound semi trailer 1.2 miles east of Greenfield on U S 40. Wayne K. Dunn, 24, Winchester, Va, operated the truck and remained unharmed. Stockton died from a massive skull fracture and internal injuries, marking the 103rd Indiana highway death of the year.
The visit by Rev. Edgar White and his son Freddie of Fountain City to Mr. and Mrs. Fred White occurred Saturday. He also called on Ruth White at Hancock County Hospital, confirming a family gathering and hospital contact.
Mr and Mrs Frank Overman of Carthage marked their 65th wedding anniversary at home on North Main Street. They wed November 11 1897 in Knightstown. About fifty neighbors and relatives joined the afternoon celebration. Their family includes son Jack and daughters Ben Magruder Marion Schumpert and Stuart McKnight ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A noon dinner was hosted by Jack Overman and wife with several relatives in attendance.
Carthage Raiders beat Southwestern 58 to 47 to claim their second win of the season. Larry Jordan led with 29 points, supported by Ronnie Weidner's 16 as coach Larry Jordan shifted to a zone defense and fast breaks. Southwestern reserves won the curtain raiser 63 21.
The Lions Club met last Monday in the Community Building basement with sixteen members present. Visitors included Manilla Lions and Carthage members Gene Silvers and Larry Jordan, plus Hanover Ind. Past District Governor Nelson Boicourt who spoke on a Muskingum Hospital camp project. Gerald Carmony of Manilla also supported the idea. Carthage Club plans to visit Mays Club on February 14 for a dinner meeting.
Mrs. Virginia Wells and her daughter Linda, along with Mrs. Ethel Collins, visited Mrs. Anna Masters on Sunday at the Odd Fellows Home in Greensburg.
Ben Magruder aged 65 died last Saturday in Starkville Mississippi after several weeks illness. He is survived by his widow and one son and his mother all of Mississippi. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Starkville.
Olive C Phelps Drysdale, 90, a Carthage native and widow of Gurney Drysdale, died Friday in Dublin after a six week illness. Born November 29, 1871, she lived in Carthage until six years ago, leaving for Dublin to reside with her daughter Mrs. Frank Guyatt. Survived by daughter and granddaughter Charlene Sue Mosier of Carthage. one daughter preceded in death. Services at Hamp ton Mortuary Carthage 2 p.m. Sunday. Burial Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
Carthage residents may have leaves collected by the street department next Tuesday. Rake leaves to the curb. if not finished, hauling continues on Wednesday.
Leslie Eugene Cole and Sons of Carthage purchased an Aberdeen Angus bull from Orin W. and Marie M. Quackenbush of Bedford Indiana. The deal highlights a transfer of registered cattle between two farm operations in the Midwest.
Mr and Mrs Harold Davis Duane Davis Kathy Geise Kay Davis and Dahl Perry attended the Holiday On Ice Show Sunday afternoon at the Indianapolis Coliseum.
The Rush County Soil and Water Conservation District supervisors met at the Rushville SCS office with members Riggs Peterson Oldham and Carmony present. The group discussed the January 24 1963 district meeting and approved dues to the national association while establishing a watershed information program for the Big Blue River area. New cooperators from Richland and Decatur counties were welcomed for the group drainage project and related conservation improvements.

William Lowell Leisure, 48, of R R 2 Carthage died Wednesday at Rush Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born October 28 1914 in Ripley Township he was a farmer married to Eva Gray since January 23 1938. Survived by four daughters Marilyn Mosier Marsha Harper Sue Connie three grandchildren and his parents Jefferson D and Mary Posey Leisure. Services Saturday at 2 p.m. Hamp ton Mortuary with Rev Jack Wallace and Rev Paul Mayfield officiating entombment East Hill Shrine Mausoleum Rushville.
Union Thanksgiving Services will be held Wednesday November 21 at 7 30 p m at Walnut Ridge Friends Church with Rev Jack Wallace of Carthage Methodist Church delivering the message. Walnut Ridge Church leads the service and invites the public to attend.

Guy McBride 69, president of the First National Bank of Mays, died at 12:45 p.m. Monday at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after a year of ill health. He spent his life in Mays, worked 48 years at the bank, and led as president for much of that time. A World War I veteran, he leaves a widow Fannie Stiers, a daughter Janice Gosling, two sisters Fern and Zula, a granddaughter Nancy Jane Gosling, and other relatives. He was active in church, fraternal groups, and local education efforts. born July 23, 1893.
Mr and Mrs Mike Watkins and their son visited his parents Mr and Mrs Billy Watkins in Nashville over the weekend. Randy McClurg and Joe Foust of Ball State Teacher s College also visited their parents during the weekend.
