Legion Joint District Meet Set in Rushville

Thieves entered the Horton home southeast of here early Sunday night and fled with cash. The burglars broke a window to gain entry and ransacked the house, taking seven dollars from a powder box and two purses. The robbery occurred between 7:15 and 9:20 while the residents were away, according to sheriff reports.

Superintendent of Electric Plant Fatally Shot
A. P. Crider 52, superintendent of Greenfield Municipal electric plant, died after shooting himself in the basement of his home Thursday noon. He was conscious briefly, then died an hour later. Survivors include his widow and two sons Kenneth of Akron and Lyle at home.

Eye sight restored to Greenfield resident
Charles W. Huston, a Greenfield resident, is in St. Vincent's hospital Indianapolis for cataract removal. The operation on one eye succeeded and doctors expect the second eye to respond similarly. After years of failed treatments, he regained sight and may soon read a newspaper.

Relative of Local Man Dies of Heart Attack
Mr. Gurney Hunt, 61, died of a heart attack at his Washington home last Thursday night. A Navy office executive for over thirty years, he later studied business education at Oswego New York. He was a cousin of Clyde Henley of Carthage. Services were held in Washington on Sunday and he was buried in York Pennsylvania on Monday. His sister Miss Florence Hunt of Greenfield Ohio survives.

Former Pastor Speaks On Armistice Program
Rev. Frank C. Guyatt former pastor of the Friends church here now leading Dublin Friends church gave an Armistice address titled In Remembrance at union services in Knights town Christian church last Sunday night. He served thirty nine months overseas during World War I and forty two months with the Canadian forces before his 1926–1929 pastorate here ended with a move to Canada for ministry.

Petition Filed to Vacate Old Road in Ripley Township
The county board of commissioners filed a petition to vacate a road in Ripley township from U S 140 about 160 feet south of the Blue River bridge northeast through Center township to the Henry county line. The road, bounded by Flora E Cox land, has had no repairs for twenty years. Disinterested freeholders will conduct a thorough investigation and action will follow their report.

Chicago Prepares Peak Stock Show Season In 1935
The 1935 International Live Stock Exposition and Horse Show opens November 30 in Chicago and runs through December 7. Entries close November 1 bringing record animal counts across stock, saddlery, and carlot contests. Top stables from Canada and the United States will compete in saddle, harness, and horse shows at the new Ampitheatre with three and five gaited horses, ponies, hunters, and jumpers. The exposition features livestock displays, grain and hay shows, and meat industry exhibits. Rail fares to Chicago are reduced for International week, with round trips as low as a cent per mile.

Carthage Considers Water Works Bond Issue for New System
A town board meeting on November 12 discusses Lennox and Matthews engineers plan to procure a water works system. They authorize selling 35 000 dollars in Water Works Revenue bonds at par with 4 percent interest to fund construction. Bond maturity schedule spans 1937 to 1960 with several notes. The town reserves delivery rights until December 15, 1935 and may reject all bids. A test well may begin December 15 near DeSchipper Canning.
