Rush County ASC Office mails double post cards to all wheat producers asking them to complete and return the card to help plan farm visits to measure wheat acreages for the 1961 crop year.
The Carthage Radio and Appliance Shop marks its 25th anniversary with a cooking demonstration at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Community Center. Hubert Hunt of WIBC announced the event with Patricia Harter presenting. Home Service's representative will demo. Bill Caldwell and Ann will perform vocal and xylophone numbers. A 25 cent ticket supports CHS Junior class.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Truitt attend the installation of Mrs. Kenneth Fields as worthy matron of the Muskegon chapter on Saturday October 29 in Michigan.
Mrs Milton Gardner of Knights Town formerly from near Carthage was admitted to Rush Memorial hospital Saturday for major surgery on Tuesday. She is in room 246.
Ten members visited the Hills Rose Gardens in Richmond last Wednesday and later dined at the Leland Hotel. Attendees included Mesdames Glennie Mann Marvin Johnson Lewis Lafuse Ed Carroll James Whitfield Merrill Ewing Robert White Bob Nigh Leonard Sullivan Jr. and Kenneth Schnieder.
Mrs. Vera Mae Rucker and family have moved into the Mary Gorman rental on east 6th Street Carthage.

A daughter was born to Mr and Mrs Gene Cole of R R 1 Carthage at Rush Memorial Hospital Rushville last Thursday November 3.
Den No 2 met at Virginia Whitfield home with David Whitfield supplying refreshments. A game was played and won by David Whitfield, with Gary Osborn presenting the prize. Also reports Army Pvt Lawrence H Evans, 19, assigned to Fort Campbell KY as supply clerk after enlisting in September 1960 following Carthage High School.
The African Violet Show at the Severin Hotel in Indianapolis drew a group of attendees including Mesdames Thomas Bush, Forrest Moore, Loyal Hunt, H. L. Hensler, Albert Ray and Fred Flick along with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whitfield Mrs. Henry Whitfield, Mrs. Logan Nelson and Mrs. Frank Hampton.
Den II of the scouts met at Mrs. Joe Porter’s home and decided on a good will service. Den mother Alva Porter and cub scouts Alva Porter Mike McClurg Lynn Ray Dwayne Ray and den chief Mike Whitfield raked the yard of Mrs. Elmina Parish who is hospitalized. Fred Parish treated the scouts to refreshments at Hoosier Manor afterward.
The Carthage Blue Raiders defeated Knightstown 54 to 41 in their first game, leading most of the night. Jordan, a promising freshman, scored 18 points to pace Carthage while rebounding favored the Raiders 41 to 20. The Carthage Seconds added a 37-31 win over Knightstown’s second squad.
Lula Isabel Gatewood 75 longtime Rush County resident died Monday after two years of declining health. Born August 22 1885 Hoopston Illinois she moved to Carthage early and married William Gatewood in 1903. Survived by two daughters two sons nine grandchildren five great grandchildren two sisters and two brothers. A Friends Church member her funeral was held Thursday at Hampton Funeral Home Carthage with burial in Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
At the Rush County Agricultural Association regular meeting on Tuesday November 1 at the County Extension Office eight leaders were chosen as new members: Charles Ariens Richard Mastin Don Renegar Wayne Logan Joe Godby Sam Murphy Kenneth Land and Paul Potts Ertle Price presided and bills were approved.
The Community Betterment Association postponed the Saturday activity until November 19, 1960, delaying planned community service and neighborhood improvement efforts.
Miss Mary Kay Rotterman and Miss Marlene Graff of Indianapolis were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Graff and Karen. Mrs. Russell Shutt attended a Gold Crown Club district meeting at the Niagara Store in New Castle last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. James Peacock and family of Deputy hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Carl Foust and family Sunday. Mr. Rex Edwards and Mr. Kenneth Leisure enjoyed a Smorgasbord dinner at the Hagerstown restaurant Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Luther Hall visited Mrs. Pearl Young in Greensburg Sunday afternoon.
Indiana election results show Republicans gaining eight seats in Congress led by Ralph Harvey in the 10th District who defeated Democrat Randall Harmon. Other GOP picks include Roudebush in the 6th, Wilson in the 9th, and Bruce in the 11th, while longtime incumbents Halleck Adair and Bray won re election. Democrats Madden Brademas and Denton held their seats, with a tight 5th District race between A. Chambers and J Edward Roush highlighted among the statewide returns. Local social notes reference community visits and a mock school election predicting Nixon and Welsh victory in Indiana.

Statewide split with Republicans controlling the Indiana House and Democrats winning the Senate.
Mrs. Charles Holliday and children Karen Ann and Mike of Carmel Indiana were Sunday guests of her parents Mr and Mrs Paul Gray. The two events were noted in local social pages with emphasis on family attendance at community gatherings.
Sunday visitors included Mr and Mrs Omer Heim and family from Indianapolis and Hammond Illinois plus the Wolfe Addison and McClain groups. Other guests were Mr and Mrs Lowell Brown and children from Carthage and Mrs George Fancher from Arlington at the Fancher home in Indianapolis. Christie McDonald of Indianapolis visited Miss Carolyn Jane Sandefur of Carthage while Forrest Marshall visited Mrs Russell Nigh at Henry County Hospital Friday night.
