The Carthage Radio and Appliance Shop marks its 25th anniversary with a cooking demonstration at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Community Center. Hubert Hunt of WIBC announced the event with Patricia Harter presenting. Home Service's representative will demo. Bill Caldwell and Ann will perform vocal and xylophone numbers. Scouts rake yard for hospital patient as good will service

Den II of the scouts met at Mrs. Joe Porter’s home and decided on a good will service. Carthage Raiders Triumph In Season Opener At Knightstown

The Carthage Blue Raiders defeated Knightstown 54 to 41 in their first game, leading most of the night. Jordan, a promising freshman, scored 18 points to pace Carthage while rebounding favored the Raiders 41 to 20. The Carthage Seconds added a 37-31 win over Knightstown’s second squad.

Services Held For Lula Gatewood

Lula Isabel Gatewood 75 longtime Rush County resident died Monday after two years of declining health. Born August 22 1885 Hoopston Illinois she moved to Carthage early and married William Gatewood in 1903. Survived by two daughters two sons nine grandchildren five great grandchildren two sisters and two brothers. A Friends Church member her funeral was held Thursday at Hampton Funeral Home Carthage with burial in Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
