The committee reports over 500 dollars cleared for the Community Birthday Calendar project. Proceeds will fund new band uniforms for the Carthage School band. Extra calendars may be purchased from Mrs Noah Brooks. The group thanks all contributors for a successful effort.
The CHS student body organizes a pep club aimed at 50 plus members, orders jackets, and elects officers. Seniors promote attendance and school spirit for the basketball season, highlighting cheerleaders and players as the audience for support.
Community Center officials say the long awaited Fall Festival proceeds report is forthcoming within a few days, providing an update on funds raised and event outcomes.
George John Schuck of Carthage files for divorce from Violet Schuck on grounds of cruel and inhuman treatment. The couple married November 10, 1930 and separated October 1 this year, per the complaint.
Eli Stephens returned home from Rush Memorial Hospital last week. Mrs. Elmina Parish entered Henry County hospital last Sunday for x rays and observation. Mrs. Russell Nigh entered Henry County Hospital Monday and underwent major surgery on Tuesday. Howard Henley remains about the same at Rush Memorial hospital.
Several young people from the Little Blue River Church of Christ joined a Youth Meeting held Saturday and Sunday at the Lincoln Street Church of Christ in Bloomington Indiana. Attendees included Carol Lou Wagoner Janie Leisure Sharlene Beckner Sharon Vivian McMahel Joe Leisure and Gary Linville.

Republican and Democrat precinct committeemen for the Tuesday election have been announced for Carthage and Ripley Township. Republican Ripley 1 includes Inspector Kenneth Rhodes and Sheriff Charles Fairchild. Ripley 2 lists Inspector Harry Bentley and Sheriff Arthur Winfeld. Democrat Ripley 1 names Judge Stella Humes and Sheriff Bernadine Morgan. Ripley 2 includes Judge Wayne Clark and Sheriff Mary Tweedy.
The International Convention of Christian Churches was held last week at Freedom Hall Louisville Kentucky fairgrounds. Rev. Robert Kendall attended Tuesday and Wednesday and took part in a choral drama by Butler University Seminary. Others on Wednesday included Mrs Kendall Mr and Mrs Robert McKain and Mr and Mrs Clyde E Ruby.
A large crowd of ladies attended the Republican Women's Coffee hour Tuesday afternoon in the Rushville courthouse assembly room. Carthage attendees included Mrs. Arthur Winfield Mrs. Joseph Graff Mrs. Omer Heim Mrs. Wilbur McCorkle Mrs. Herman Parker Mrs. Forrest Moore Mrs. George Moore Mrs. Guy Ewing Mrs. Logan Nelson and Mrs. Hans Buehler.

Mr and Mrs George Roland and Mr and Mrs Russell Roland visited the George Usher Mortuary in Indianapolis on Wednesday night to mourn Charles Gerbert who died this week. He was the father of Earl Roland.
Claude L Alexander 66 of The Triangle Trailer Park Battle Creek Michigan died Tuesday evening after a heart attack at home and hospital. A World War I veteran, he retired from a Hamilton Ohio paper mill and is survived by two sisters Leota Billings and Lavonne Dagler and two brothers William Edgar Alexander and Everette.
Miss Patty Tribby daughter of Mrs Marie Tribby of Carthage performed a saxophone solo in Mrs Lee Garver's recital Sunday at Spiceland Friends Church. Attendees included Mrs Marie Tribby Mrs Celia Alexander and Miss Bernice Branson.
County sheriff's department and State Trooper James Kleiman investigated a break in at Carthage school Saturday. About $35 in candy was stolen Friday night after entry via the boys' rest room. damage to the building totaled about $150 with all windows smashed at a vacant farmhouse northwest of Arlington. Fred Lee owns the farmhouse, four windows were broken at Ada Chappel's house west of Carthage.
About 150 masked children attended the PTO Halloween party at the Community Center with a parade in the public square. Cartoon films played. prizes of silver dollars were given for categories including smallest, most original, best ghost, prettiest, best hobo, ugliest, and best couple.
Rush County election figures announce 12,242 eligible voters for the November 8 election, not a record but above the 1956 total of 12,097. Rushville precincts hold 4,552 voters while 14 rural precincts total 7,690, with Rushville City precinct 6 gaining 865 from 764 in 1956.
