Mrs. Edgar V. Ruby has recently returned home from Jackson Nursing Home in Rushville and remains about the same. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Ruby of Centerville were callers Saturday.
The Greensboro Church of the Nazarene presents a revival with Evangelist Rev. David Rutherford and a quartet—Paul McClaren Russell Roberts Morris Smoot Denny Holder—all from Greensboro. Evening services begin at 7 30 led by Pastor Rev. Gerald Fleming.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Herkless traveled to Louisville Kentucky Tuesday morning to spend two days at the Bourbon Stock Show. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stoten Sr are spending the week in Louisville.
The Walnut Ridge Quarterly Meeting will hold worship and business sessions on Saturday November 12 at Greenfield Friends church. Ministry and Council meet at 10:00 a.m. Worship at 11:00 a.m. George Cole of Little Blue River Friends will speak. A business session starts at 1:30 p.m. A basket dinner is planned at noon. All Friends in the area are urged to attend.
Fourteen residents cast ballots in Carthage Town election. Elected to the Town Council were Albert Ray Morris Henley Ralph Moore Grant Henley Forrest Marshall and Ora Clayton. Mrs Bernadine Morgan was re elected clerk treasurer. All terms run four years.
Mr and Mrs Howard E Henley attended the funeral services Saturday morning for Dr Murray N Hadley in Indianapolis Dr Hadleys wife was the late Florence Henley of Carthage
Verna Stevens, child of Mr and Mrs John R Stevens, fell from a car on October 27 and sustained a broken arm. She is reported to be getting along nicely now.
Mr and Mrs George B McNabb Jr and their young son from Fairbanks Alaska arrived Wednesday to visit his parents Dr and Mrs George McNabb along with other relatives and friends in the area.
The Camera Club will meet next Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the Community Center, inviting members to attend the evening session.
William H. Dixon aged 34 with nine years banking experience in Indiana joins Local State Bank of Carthage. He and his wife and three year old son will move into the Anne H. Newsom home on North Main Street. Dixon served three years in the U S Army in World War II and held prior posts at West Baden National Bank and French Lick State Bank.
Bulletin reports Miss Sarah Sally Newby died at 1 p m today at her home south of town. Obituary notes Mrs Guy Ewing and Mrs Russell Shutt attended officers training school held at the Farm Bureau in Rushville.
A bazaar and jitney supper will be held at the Community Center sponsored by Carthage Methodist Church. The bazaar begins at 2 p.m. and the supper at 5 p.m. on Saturday November 19. Proceeds support church activities.
Charlie Robert Mathley died suddenly at his Carthage area home around 5 p m Friday. Born March 26 1887 to Alexander and Riley Sparrow Mathley he resided near Carthage seven years. Survivors include Etna A Mathiey widow three daughters Mary Owens Anderson Jane Cain McCordsville Catherine Rel ler Pendleton two sons Alexander Pendleton Kenneth Lee Mathley Carthage one brother Aleck Mathley Oaklandon twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild Funeral services were at 2 p m Sunday at East Street Christian church led by Rev Basil Stultz and Rev Ezra Sparrow with singing by Mrs Hugh Trowbridge Mrs Clyde E Ruby accompaniment by Mrs Harold Ruby Burial in Carthage Town Cemetery.
Dr Murray N Hadley of Indianapolis died last Thursday at Methodist hospital after a period of ill health. Survived by three sons Frederick M Hadley William Herley Hadley and Dr David Hadley and two sisters. Services and cremation held at Flanner Buchanan Fall Creek Mortuary Saturday at 10 am.
The International Livestock Exposition in Chicago will run November 25 to December 3 marking its 56th anniversary. With over 100000 prize funds, 27 breeds compete, including Polled Herefords for the first time, plus 14 Horse Show performances and daily events. Judge Dr. A D Weber will select the grand champion steer on November 29, followed by three days of auctions starting December 1. Entries close November 1 with exhibitors from nearly all states and Canada expected.
Mary Shelton of Shelbyville and Mr and Mrs Joe Steward of Knightstown visited Mr and Mrs David Ray Sunday afternoon. Bill Pitts of near Arlington visited Worth Pitts and son Tommy Sunday. Kenneth Rhodey and mother Ethel Hartzler of Rushville shopped in Indianapolis Wednesday. Russell Roland called at Hendrix Fields Mortuary Cumberland to pay respects to G A Long who died near Gem after a short illness.
Neighbors and relatives of the late Walter Nelson harvested his 100 acres of corn on Saturday with 83 men and 35 pickers. Dozens of named helpers provided lunch and food, while several women contributed meals and support.
Mrs. Frank Guyatt received a diamond award of the 4 H Clover as 4 H adult leaders were honored Monday night November 7. Sixty six leaders from 35 clubs were recognized at a dinner hosted by Indiana Chain Store Council members.
The Carthage American Legion Auxiliary met Monday night at the Community Center with Mrs. Ann Gardner as hostess. President Mrs. Rachel King led the meeting, with prayers, a flag salute, and a verse of the Star Spangled Banner.
Mrs Donald Ruby hosted a Sunday birthday dinner for her husband with guests including Clyde BE Ruby and family from Carthage and Max Ellis and family from Knightstown. Harold Ruby and son David visited Purdue University for Dad's Day with John A Ruby.
Purdue extension poultryman notes updated regulations require eggs sold with a listed price to be graded by grade and size from A to C before February first. Labels must show grade and size on every container. The change extends grading to all grades and encourages education programs for producers and retailers.

Mr and Mrs Louis Zimmerman announce a 6 lb boy born Tuesday morning at Rush Memorial, grandson of Howard Zimmerman. Mr and Mrs Robert Norris of Terre Haute announce a daughter Barbara Ann born Wednesday, Norris daughter of Parvel Moore.
Indiana State Dairy Association holds its 66th annual meeting at Purdue University on December 5 in Lafayette. Dr. C E French discusses dairy production and profits while W D Knox addresses current conditions. More than 250 awards for outstanding Hoosier dairy producers will be presented in morning sessions.
Miss Joann Ross of Indianapolis and George M. Ball also of Indianapolis were married November 4 in the Third Christian church chapel. Rev King officiated a double ring ceremony in the presence of immediate relatives. Mrs Ball is a Dayton Ohio high school graduate. Ball is Arlington high school graduate and a World War II veteran employed by Chrysler in Indianapolis. They will reside in Indianapolis.
The Indianapolis based Container Corporation told the state Stream Pollution Control Board it will pursue a pilot purification system and, if satisfactory, invest about 96 000 in new equipment plus 12 000 for a parallel sewer, 22 950 for a new lagoon, and 308 125 already spent since 1938 on pollution programs. The company notes river flow fluctuations hinder full cleanup and expects spring 1956 for major work.

Container Corporation of America announces a $6.3 million Santa Clara boxboard mill and a $925 thousand folding carton plant in Seattle. Plans include one paper machine at the Santa Clara site and expansion of carton and shipping container production, with current mills and plants listed.
A head on collision on North Main Street Carthage occurred about 11 am Tuesday when heavy smoke from burning leaves in front of the Arthur Bowden residence obscured drivers vision. Betty Burnelle and Marie Smith sustained minor injuries. damages to both cars totaled 400 dollars.
The East Street Christian Church changes its Sunday night service to 7 PM on November 13 to accommodate John A. Ruby and the Varsity Glee Club of Purdue who will appear on Ed Sullivan's Toast of the Town on TV at 8 PM in New York. Afterward services resume their usual time.
