Guy Ewing entered Rush Memorial Hospital Saturday for observation and treatment and returned home Wednesday He will re enter the hospital Sunday for further care and observation at the same facility.
Two Rushville women were released from the county jail on $50 bond each after arrest in Carthage on disorderly conduct charges. Mrs. Marjorie Whitfield, about 21, and Mrs. Linda Hensley, 19, faced affidavits by Charles Whitfield Jr. Carthage marshal Hugh Trowbridge said the fight outside Whitfield’s parents home on West Henley Street left Whitfield with a bitten hand.
The Rev. C. L. Davis and several residents including Jimmie Terhune Jeannine Terhune Nancy Copple Lois Hawkins Marilyn Buckley Dorothy Edwards and Mrs Joyce Rhoades participated in a Youth's Rally held Sunday afternoon in Bloomington.

Family Day on Sunday at Carthage Friend Church drew good attendance. Rev Schockney delivered a morning sermon and Charles Morris spoke on Relation to Church Home and School in the afternoon. Mrs Carr, James Carr, Maude Porter, W A Chonan and Sharlee Kyser sang with Mrs Carr at the piano.
Lafayette Ind November 7 An Iota Lambda Sigma ceremony at Purdue University accepted five pledges in industrial education led by the honorary fraternity. Paul E Jackson of Carthage was named among the new pledges along with others.
Mrs. Susan Lattimore Hill died Friday night in Jackson Nursing Home Rushville after years of illness. A former Carthage resident and Carthage High School graduate, she was widow of Walter B. Hill and member of Carthage Friends church. She lived in Knightstown and was preceded in death by her husband and two sons Howard and Edgar. Funeral services were held Monday in Knightstown with burial in Riverside cemetery Carthage.
Rush County Commissioners meet for routine business. They authorize bids for a maintainer, tractor, and a new automobile for the highway department with bids opening December 7. James Caldwell from Bevington Taggart Fowler presents a rough elevator sketch for the Courthouse to be installed after funds become available, and monthly claims are approved.
Willis Edward Rowan 19 of Carthage and Carolyn Mae Ritter 17 of Rushville apply for a marriage license.
The Carthage Raiders, led by Watkins Parish and Sonny Smith, defeated New Salem 71 to 37 in a decisive pre season win. Carthage used stifling defense and sharp shooting to take an early lead and stretch it through the game.

Several auto accidents attracted local notice this past week. Paul Scott, 55, of Carthage Rt. 1, was injured when his gravel truck struck a utility pole on the Carthage Arlington road. He is reported improving at Rush Memorial Hospital. Donald Gribbons, 19, of Carthage, was cited for drunken and reckless driving after a Saturday crash on the Knightstown road. he pleaded guilty and was fined 54 dollars with a one year license suspension. Four others suffered minor injuries in separate incidents. Early Sunday Donald Dyer, 22, of Greenfield, overturned a 1956 Buick near Charlottesville. five occupants endured minor cuts. Local plebiscite voters backed Central Standard Time year-round by large margins. Rush County favored CST by a wide majority.
Mrs Hollis Williams 45 of Knightstown suffered double leg fractures after being struck between a Knightstown police car and her truck while at the 100 West Main Street stop sign. Assistant town marshal Orris Gasper was en route to investigate a prior crash involving Williams truck and Lon Craigs vehicle. Williams underwent amputation of both legs at Henry County hospital and remained in critical condition.
The Parent Teachers Association will hold a meeting Tuesday night November 13 at 7 30 at the school building. The theme is Parents Go To School with parents visiting their children in elementary rooms to hear teachers explain daily routines grading report cards pupil conduct and home encouragement. Light refreshments and entertainment for children will be provided. Parish notes report several locals hospitalized or ill in Rushville and Rush Memorial hospital and Jackson Nursing Home.
Mrs Lenore Thompson hosted the E L B O W meeting with Mrs Mae Moore assisting. Ten members attended with dainty refreshments. Charles Lewis of Greenfield and others attended an antique show in Connersville after visiting local families.
President Eisenhower won re election with broad support for four more years but Congress remained under Democratic control. The GOP carried 41 states in a landslide, with Indiana’s state ticket swept and 9 of 11 congressional districts captured. Senator Homer Capehart led the Indiana results.

Buds Electric hosted an open house last Friday and Saturday drawing about 200 visitors to the new cement block building on Mays Road just east of the NYC railroad. The Hotpoint Appliances displays filled the 20 by 32 foot space as prizes and favors were awarded. John Brown of Manila won the door prize. Mr. Henderson, owner and Hotpoint dealer, offers wiring services and dealer support plus invites locals to visit or return.
