The Friends Guild sponsors a Thursday night movie on November 13 at 7 30 p m at the Community Center. The program features color films of the Scandinavian countries and the Olympics taken by Rev. Frank Guyatt during his trip there. The public is cordially invited to attend.
Rush Lodge No. 580 held its regular meeting on Wednesday night at the hall and conferred the Master Mason degree on Earl Richard Henley.
Arva L. Wilson of Knightstown and Marlene Zimmerman of Carthage appear in a local public notice detailing a legal action or settlement. The item references their names and involved towns within the official record.
Sixty nine friends and farmers gathered at the James Dalrymple farm last Friday to pick corn, build cribs, and repair the barn in a display of goodwill. Women served hot food and coffee at noon as Mr. Dalrymple expressed gratitude for the act.
Miss Virginia Woods of Rushville injured Friday night in a motor scooter and truck collision in Rushville. Suffered a broken right leg and was taken to Rush Memorial Hospital. Spent several months in the home of Mrs. Lettie Sparks of Rushville.
Mr and Mrs Fred Sims and their daughter Kay relocated to a new home in west Greenfield last week. The Cook family and daughter Trina Kay plan a move to Rushville soon.
Golden Dawn Farms of Carthage Indiana purchased two purebred Aberdeen Angus cows from Lawrence and Dorothy Nichols of Congerville Illinois.
Charles Ray, 14, son of Mrs Grace Combs, is seriously ill at the Veterans Hospital in Dayton Ohio. His address is Charles B Ray VA Center Ward 21 Annex 4 Dayton and Carthage friends are invited to write.
The Carthage Legion Post No 316 will sponsor a Thanksgiving Dance at the Community Center on Saturday November 22 featuring the band Hink and His Melodiers.
The PTA sponsored a downtown window drawing last Friday afternoon for all children. A Halloween event at the Community Center offered games, parade, town activities, a movie, and refreshments. About 300 children attended.
Pvt. Regs Manche arrived by plane at Municipal Airport in Indianapolis around 10 a.m. for the dedication of a new gymnasium. Pvt. Max Manche came home over the weekend but missed the Saturday dedication by a few hours. Both are former Carthage Blue Raider stars.

The Carthage Ripley Township PTA announces Merton Scott of Richmond Indiana as guest speaker for the November 11 meeting. Scott, a Friends minister and former relief worker, has traveled worldwide and led peace and social concerns efforts since 1947. Rev E W Chapman chairs the program committee.
Mrs Walter B Hill sustained a fractured wrist after an accident at her home this week.
A divorce was granted to the Mourey of Carthage from Jesse Mourey last week and her former name Bramel was restored. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gibson of Carthage have a son born Thursday at Rush Memorial Hospital. Miss Flossie Brinkman of Knightstown recently visited Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Pitts and Mrs. Maude Bell.
Ray Gurley 67 died at Jackson Nursing Home Rushville Thursday night after a long illness. Born Hancock County June 26 1885 he was a prosperous farmer and active church member. Survivors include widow stepson Harold Phéips and brother Hol Gurley, plus sisters Mrs Noah Leisure and Mrs Jessie Wilson. Funeral Sunday at Wyatt Memorial Mortuary Rushville with Rev Basil Stuka officiating. Entombment East Hill Shrine mausoleum.

New Salem Sectional Champion rallied in the second half to beat Carthage 55-48 at the new Carthage School Gymnasium dedication before a capacity crowd of 1,100. George Roland led Carthage with 22 points while Headlee and Cameron paced New Salem with 29 combined.
