Al McDaniel purchased and took possession of the Pool room and Lunch business from Parish Bros on West Mill Street. His son Raymond will assist later, and Carl Parish had run the business for eight years with six years of partial ownership by Forrest Parish. Forrest, a Cantigny veteran, retires due to ill health after twenty one years in the U S Army.
Several hundred visitors from Rush and nearby counties will attend Rushville Grove No. 6 Tali Ce dars seventh Pilgrimage next Thursday at the Auditorium on East Mill Street. A banquet at 5 30 p m by East Street Christian Church ladies precedes an entertainment. visitors enter by card. Ertle D Price of near this place chairs the arrangements committee.
Saturday performance of Zane Grey's The Thundering Herd presented at Auditorium Theatre depicts 1876 frontier life with scenes of caravan attacks by Indians and a buffalo stampede. Wedding invitations and announcements are printed at this office.
A Friday afternoon Silver Tea hosted by the Friendly Circle at the home of Mr and Mrs Howard E Henley drew a large crowd. A program of music readings and fortune telling entertained guests, with a silver offering around 19 dollars raised for school milk fund for under nourished children.
Dorothea M. Hopkins daughter of Mr and Mrs Albert Hopkins and Claude Miller son of Mr and Mrs Arnold Miller were married Thursday evening at the Walnut Ridge Friends church by Rev. Harry Reece. The couple reside with his parents where he farms.
The Dixon Board Mills plant began operating machine No 3 on Monday producing fine grade chip board and test liner with 120 workers. A second machine No 1 is planned to start around the fifteenth as orders remain strong and the business outlook is satisfactory.
