Members and friends of East Street Christian Church celebrate a victory service with over 250 dollars collected, bringing October total to 900 dollars to reduce the building debt. Ripley Township 4-H Girls Judge in County Contest
Lois White, Rosemary Behr and Jean Stewart represented the Ripley Township 4-H club at the county judging contest held in the Court House assembly last Saturday. Six projects were judged by one hundred girls with two classes: clothing for Lois and first year food preparation for Rosemary and Jean. The highest scoring girl in her class will represent Rush County at the district meeting in Greenfield on Saturday November 2.

Arrested on Old Charge After Returning Here
Lewis Saunders, 20, was arrested here Monday evening on a May 1934 charge for stealing two tires and tubes from Byrda Nay more than a year ago. Sheriff Dalas Hardiick and Deputy Paul Bennington made the arrest. Night, new church officers were elected including Elder Herman Dyer and Deacons Lester Hardwick John Ellison Gurney Earnest Virgil Junken. The church minister was recalled for his sixth year.

Statewide crop observers and Purdue University report corn will average 36 bushels per acre this year, totaling about 145,368,000 bushels. Oats yield 26 bushels per acre, with wheat stocks at 11,962,000 bushels and potatoes at 5,332,000 bushels. Soybeans rise to 4,960,000 bushels, tame hay 2,778,000 tons, up from last year’s figures.

Strange birds circling town draw midnight crowds
Wild geese aroused many townsfolk Monday night as they circled overhead around midnight. Strangely shrill noises echoed between eleven and twelve, prompting light sleepers and night prowlers to hurry outside to witness the aerial spectacle. After circling the town several times the birds finally departed.
Homecoming Day At Friends Church Draws Large Turnout
A Friends church homecoming on Sunday October 27 drew about 300 attendees from Indiana and neighboring states. Rev Charles O Whitely of Wichita preached twice, with music by a Choral choir and local soloists. Ministers and guests from Ohio and Texas joined the event, and a bountiful dinner followed for over two hundred people.
