A heavy yielding potato can be replanted immediately after the first harvest to produce a second crop in the same season. Developed at the U S Department of Agriculture Extension Station University of Maryland, the plant avoids the normal dormant period by chemical treatment. In a three year test it yielded 179 bushels per acre for spring planting versus 134 for Irish Cobbler, and later plantings produced 128 bushels per acre versus Dakota Reds.
