Charley N Hudson aged 73 of Charlottesville died at Hancock Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born February 9 1891 he was a longtime Pennsylvania Railroad signalman for 32 years and retired seven years ago. Surviving include three children several grandchildren two sisters and two brothers including Vinton Hudson of Carthage. Services were held Thursday morning at Pasco Mortuary Greenfield with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery near Carthage.

May is the month of remembrance and Poppy Day observed Friday and Saturday by American Legion Auxiliary members. Special Defense Conference to Be Held at Richmond

Robert E. McKain of Carthage is invited to a Civil Defense conference in Richmond on Thursday May 28 at 9 a.m. in the First Federal Savings and Loan Building. Indiana University and the Department of Civil Defense host officials from six counties to learn about nuclear threat effects and protective measures. Carthage Alumni Association marks 12th annual meeting

More than two hundred alumni and guests gathered at the Community Center for Carthage High School’s 12th annual alumni meeting. President Windsor led the program with a memorial service and class rolls, honors for the classes of 1914 and 1939, a concert by student musicians, pictures of old Carthage scenes, and a lively evening of re connections and the Alumni Ball.

Lamb Pool Planed to Boost Rush County Sheep Income

Five lamb pools are planned this summer in Rush County led by John R. White. The first pool is June 3 at Cowan Stockyards Rushville from 6 to 9 pm with other pools on July 8 August 5 September 23 and October 21. The program marks its 24th year and has added about 26 490 dollars over past years by pooling quality lambs. Paul Graue will grade lambs onsite and farmers may arrange farm visits by notifying the County Extension Office.

Public Service Company of Indiana and Local 1393 IBEW announce a three year wage pact benefiting about 1,365 bargaining unit workers. Hourly gains between 2 and 13 cents yearly, with general wage increases and journeyman adjustments.
