Death of Ophelia Tuttle Prominent Local Resident
Ophelia Wright Tuttle age fifty eight died Tuesday afternoon at 2 00 from heart trouble after about two weeks illness. She was a Market Street Christian church member and Carthage High School graduate class of 1897. Survived by husband Tobias and three children Marguerete Charles and Clarence and brother John Wright. Funeral Friday at 2 30 from Market Street church with burial at Riverside cemetery.

Dust Storm Sweeps Indiana From Dakota Wheat Fields
A freak dust storm swept across Indiana last Thursday, driven by West winds and very dry soil. Government meteorologist J. H. Armington of Indianapolis traced the haze to dry wheat soil from the Dakotas, carried hundreds of miles southeast. The storm stretched from Minneapolis to St. Louis.

Sunrise Prayer Meeting Changes To Social Tea and Vesper

Death of Lydia Bell Dunn in Carthage community
Lydia Bell Dunn 68 died at home Friday at 4 30 am after years of illness with a final improvement. Born Morristown March 9 1866 she lived in and near Carthage over fifty years. She married John Stevens in 1886 and had three children, one son Ertle Stevens surviving with three grandchildren. Funeral at Friends Church with burial Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Survivors include husband son and brothers. many relatives attended from Indiana, Greenfield and Shelbyville.

Automobile Crash Near Knightstown Injures Hill
Raymond Rumple drove the car with Ed Hewitt and Grant Hill when the vehicle overturned north of the steel bridge south of Knightstown Saturday night around 11. The crash was caused by lights going out. Hill suffered head and leg injuries and some ribs were fractured. Hewitt and Rumple escaped with minor injuries. The truck sustained little damage.

Regal stores owned by A W Winfield and W J Phelps held a Saturday demonstration day attracting large crowds. Winfield celebrated his fifteenth year in business as the stores showcased redecoration and a wide stock. Representatives from Regal Stores Inc Indianapolis and partners from Richmond Baking Co General Mills attended. Samples were served and prizes awarded including groceries bananas and a night drawing.

Fire destroys farm barn and home in Copple area
Fire last Tuesday night roared through Har ley Copple’s barn on the Henry Robinson farm destroying four horses two calves a car a tractor and all farm tools. The blaze spread to Paul Snyder’s nearby home also burned with contents saved. No insurance covered the losses neighbors brought eight tractors to aid neighbors in need.

Fire causes roof damage on North Market Street
Sparks from a chimney caused a small fire damaging the roof of Arthur McDuffey's house on North Market Street Sunday morning. Insurance covered the loss. Furniture suffered water damage and was not insured.

Banquet Well Attended by Mothers and Daughters
More than a hundred mothers and daughters attended the Mother Daughter Banquet at the Christian church sponsored by the Christian Helpers. An elaborate program featured music drama and a pledge "We Will Not Fail." The pageant "A Precious Heritage" impressed attendees and the closing torch scene led to a chorus of Faith of Our Mothers. Food was prepared by women and served by men with Claude Sipe as head-waiter.
