Death of Jackson Frazier at 79 in James Place farm home
Jackson Frazier died after a stroke on Wednesday and passed away Saturday morning at his farm home on the James place. He was 79 and survived by his widow, three sisters, and one brother in Paris. Funeral services were held in Carthage with Rev. McMillan in charge. The body was taken to Paris, Illinois, Monday with relatives. another service occurred in the cemetery chapel where burial followed.

Detour on U S 40 Extended Toward Gem and Cumberland
The north detour on U S Road 40 west of Greenfield has been extended to a mile east of Gem instead of to the stone road north of Philadelphia. Old concrete breaking up fast and detour will extend west every few days. Motorists may soon be forced to use the full Greenfield to Cumberland route.

Scouts will decorate graves of soldiers and public servants this week. They request community help with flowers and flags, calling Scoutmaster at phone 66 to arrange pickup Memorial Day morning. Scout Clean up Week was a success and community cooperation is hoped to continue.

Mrs Minnie Adkins underwent a minor operation at Major Hospital Shelbyville this week. Mrs John Reed remains ill at home with restriction on visitors. Bert Sharer moved from bed to hospital care at Indianapolis Methodist for treatment. Mrs Melvin Seeley and Mrs Mary Hubbard show some improvement. William Miner remains bedfast with no improvement. Willard Miner recovering. Mrs Conrad Kizer able to be up part of the time despite rheumatism. Mrs Sam O McCarty ill for several days. Fence of muskets forms Georgetown memorial wall
In Georgetown District of Columbia a fence made from barrels of old muskets used in the war of 1812 stands at the northwest corner of Twenty-eighth and P streets. The government could not compensate Georgetown citizens, so they helped themselves to scrap iron at the navy yard. The fence remains a souvenir of the era.
