Mrs. Eugene I. Gardner suffered a serious foot injury last Wednesday when a rock struck the mower and hit her foot, causing a blood hemorrhage in a blood vessel. She required crutches for several days but is now much improved.
Mrs. C. R. Mathley learned last week that her daughter Mrs. Mary Owens of Anderson was suddenly stricken blind. Mrs. Mathley has visited the home several times in the past week.
Vickie Bonita and Ronald Gatewood, children of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Gatewood, all underwent tonsillectomy operations at Rush Memorial hospital Tuesday.
Paul Scott left Rush Memorial Hospital on Friday May 3 after a six month stay. He is slowly improving and can walk with the aid of a walker.
A city newspaper notes that the weekly date line fake volume and issue numbers were altered to align with the calendar year. This week's line shows Volume 51 issue 19, though records indicate Volume 50 issue 52 for bookkeeping ease.
Rush Lodge 580 F and AM schedules a called meeting at the Masonic Hall on Monday May 13 at 8 p.m. for work on the Masonic Master Mason Degree.

Home Economics students at Carthage School staged a Style Show at 2 p.m. Thursday May 9 in the school gymnasium. Themed garments were modeled before a garden setting with music and special numbers throughout. Narration was provided by Miss Marlene Sandefur.
A son named Roger Carl Carson Jr. was born Monday at Henry County Hospital weighing 7 pounds 12 ounces to Mr and Mrs Carl Carson Jr. In Carthage, Mr and Mrs Donald Owens welcomed a daughter born Sunday at Rush Memorial Hospital.
A district youth rally is set for Friday May 10 at 7 30 p m at the Shelbyville Wesleyan Methodist Church. All youths and adults are invited meeting at 6 45 p m at the Carthage church. Rev Don Polston of Fairmount Indiana will be guest speaker with Paul Turner of Carthage in charge.
Special service at Wesleyan Methodist Church honoring mothers on Mother's Day. Rev Roy Clinard of Anderson and Miss Gertrude McClarion of Greenfield will lead with special music. A baptismal service for babies and children will be held during the event. Mothers receive a special invitation to attend.
Dr. Fred E. Catt 77 longtime Rush County veterinarian died Sunday at his Rushville home after a two year health decline. He was born in Ripley Township August 23 1879 and married Nellie Suitz in 1901. Survived by widow grandson Wilfred Catt brother Walter Catt and sister Mrs G C Beher. Services 2 p m Tuesday at Wyatt Moore Memorial Rushville burial Arlington East Hill Cemetery.
The May 6 Ripley Township Junior Leader gathering at the Farm Bureau Building Rushville drew nine members. Attendees included Janet Heim Maryin Jackson Jack Smith and others while Neal Kuhn presided.
The Woman's Literary Circle of Carthage will award the W L C Cup to the senior with the highest four year scholastic average at Commencement night on May 16. Since 1930 the cup has recognized top scholars, listing former winners through 1957 with names and years.
The E. L. B. O. W. E. L. B. O. W. meeting was not held at Mrs. Iva Cook’s home this Thursday due to the Business Women’s Meeting and Dinner held the same night. Signed Iva Cook.
Mr and Mrs Charles Whitfield of Carthage R R and Mr and Mrs Guy Bunyard of Falmouth attended the 5th District meeting of the Indiana Rural Letter Carriers Saturday night at the Marion YWCA banquet and meeting was featured.
Sunday guests included Mr. and Mrs. Charles Newhouse of Carthage and Jess Ray of Anderson visiting Mr. and Mrs. David Ray. Also Mr. Noah Magee of Pendleton dined with Mr. and Mrs. Odell Pitts and family.
A Friday night Spring Music Festival at New Castle High School Gym featured performances by the Junior High Chorus led by Accompanist Ann Campbell, Senior High Chorus with Dorothy Edwards, Triple Trio, Junior Band, the C H S Dance Band, and Senior Band under conductor Mr John Medjeski. New Castle shoppers Mr and Mrs Kenneth Ray and Mrs Dora Ray visited Monday afternoon.
Omega Chapter hosted the national gathering May 4-5 at Hotel Van Orman Fort Wayne Indiana with Lucille Reeves of Hope Indiana as Grand President presiding. Sigma Chapter received a floral tribute marking its 22nd anniversary chartered May 4 1935. Attendees included Sigma Chapter officers Helen Patton Mary Eleanor Bush Ann Stager Edna Windsor Mary Frances Gatewood Marlene Miller Mary Lou Alexander and others.
