Child Hurt When Kicked By Horse
Two year old Donnie Jackson son of Mr and Mrs Wilbur Jackson living west of Carthage received severe facial and abdominal injuries Tuesday when kicked by a horse. The accident happened as he wandered into the barn lot. He was unconscious when found by his mother and rushed to Henry County hospital in New Castle. He is recovering as well as could be expected.

Vacation Bible School to Be Held in Carthage Soon
A daily Vacation Bible School for Carthage and surrounding community is planned. Ten staffers are secured, with potential expansion. It runs May 26 to June 6, Monday through Friday mornings from 8:45 to 11:00 in the grade school building. Children ages four to fourteen are invited to register, with country students arranged by auto.

Death of Mrs Earl Sears at Knightstown
Mrs Earl Sears died Wednesday morning at 9 30 at her home in Knightstown after weeks of illness and heart ailment. Funeral services to be held Friday at 2 30 PM at Wilson funeral home with burial in Glencove cemetery Knightstown. The Sears moved from east of Carthage a few months ago.

Auto Accident On Mays Road
On Tuesday night a wreck occurred on the Carthage Mays road near the Big Four crossing. Russell Logan of this place and Howard Coffman of Mays were involved. Logan swerved to avoid a bicycle, causing a head on collision. Logan’s car rolled, Coffman’s slid 100 yards into a ditch. No serious injuries, both cars badly damaged. State Patrolman Adams investigated.

Painful Accident Claimed Two Local Women
Mrs. Ray Gurley slipped at the public square fountain Thursday and fractured an ankle bone. She was treated by Dr. George B. McNabb. Mrs. Frieda Chappell of Manilla, formerly Carthage, also had a similar fall at home Sunday night after returning from a Washington trip with Manilla seniors.

Lieutenant-Governor Charles M. Daw son and Commissioner of Agriculture says contracts are let for a major fair this fall. The Indiana State Fair runs eight days from Friday August 29 to Friday September 5 including Labor Day. The event will feature livestock from at least twenty states and showcase agricultural and machinery displays with a strong 4-H education program for boys and girls and families.
