Child Dies After Rescue From Marlin Heights Fire
A blaze at the home of Mr and Mrs Charles Blasecher in Marlin Heights Ohio killed their 10 year old son Robert who was overcome by smoke and carried to safety by Leon Cook of the Butler Township Volunteer Fire Department. He later died at a Miami Valley Ohio hospital. Cook is the son of Mrs Iva Cook and a known local figure.

Marjorie Hill Allee born June 2 1890 on a Carthage area farm, wrote a dozen children's books including Susanna and Tristram The Road to Carolina Anna's Surprising Summer and The Camp at Westland. She died last Monday in Chicago leaving husband Warder C Allee and two daughters Barbara and Mollie.

Clothing Drive Delivers 2200 Pounds to UN Relief Pool
The Ripley unity drive ended April 27 with 2200 pounds of clothing and bedding sent to the United Nations Relief pool for distribution to liberated war areas. Packed in 49 boxes, it moved from the Car Corporation of America plant to New Castle for Federal warehouse storage before overseas shipment. Better Lambs From Rush County Breeders
Seventeen flocks totaling 373 ewes were nominated by 15 Rush County farmers for the Hoosier Gold Medal Lamb Club. The program, sponsored by the Rush County Sheep Committee Purdue University Animal Husbandry department and the Extension service with the Indiana Livestock Breeders Association, promotes good sheep management and feeding. Flocks must average 70 pounds or more within four months after lambing and two thirds of the flock must meet that standard to show for Gold Medal Classes. Medals go to flocks with strong show records. open to flocks with 15 or more ewes. Registered and graded ewes are entered.
