Pendleton English and History teacher Prof Samuel B Walker has been elected Carthage Schools superintendent for two years at 1200 dollars yearly. The unanimous choice comes with high recommendations from several schools and educators despite no college degree, and follows the resignation of Supt E B Allen. Prof Walker and his wife have two young sons.
Rev. S. D. Baker of burg will preach at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday May in Center township. The first services in the church since repairs and improvements costing about $400 have been completed, and the congregation is invited.
Dr F W Cregor planned to open an office this week in the Hume Mansur Block located in Indiana. He announced the move on Tuesday afternoon and will begin operations at once.

F F Brenan owner of the Carthage Electric Light Plant says he arranged with E N Hill manager of the U S Board and Paper Co to purchase current. Change to be by June 1 with duplicate units to prevent outages. Day and night service will be provided and all current sold through meters owned and paid for by Brenan.
County Health Officer Dr Green condemned the Earnest school house, an 1853 frame structure. Trustee A. O. Hill will begin activities at once to secure a new school building and hopes to have it completed in time for the fall term.
