Mr and Mrs Ernest Garner of Carthage attended the Indianapolis District Pastors Meeting at Southport Church of the Nazarene. Speakers included Dr Mel Thomas Rockwell of Bethany Nazarene College and Dr E S Phillips of World Mission Department. Mrs Garner attended the ladies MCL luncheon for pastors wives.
Wid hastened obituary notices state George Stephens of Columbus Ohio died Monday. Former Carthage resident and brother of Eli Stephens, he leaves widow Elizabeth and several children and grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Columbus on Thursday.

SAN ANTONIO Texas Airman Kenneth A Beckner son of Mr and Mrs William H Beckner Rushville IN has been selected for technical training at Sheppard AFB Texas as a USS Air Force communications specialist He completed basic training at Lackland AFB Texas He is a 1966 Arlington High School graduate and will join the Air Training Command courses to provide technically trained personnel for the aerospace force
David R Readle son of Mr and Mrs James F Readle of R Arlington Ind has been selected for technical training at Lackland Air Force Base Texas as an air policeman A airman recently completed basic training at Lackland His new school is part of the Air Training Command which offers hundreds of specialized courses Readle a graduate of Rushville School attended Hall State University Muncie Ind and New York University
Pvt. Michael 8. Gorman of the Co. E 4th Bn 8rd Bde is assigned a new address at Fort Polk Louisiana 71450, updating military records with the change.
Funeral services were held at Day and Carter Mortuary Bedford for David W. McNabb 77 retired Bedford and Fort Wayne banker and WWI Army pilot. Burial at Green Hill Cemetery Bedford. He was brother of Dr. George B. McNabb of Carthage and son of Mrs. Marie Jones.
Word was received of the death of Gilbert Miner 73 Morris Plains New Jersey a former resident here at Carth Mrs Ruth Sohn Knightstown and Mr and Mrs Aldrich Harvey Mooresville attended the funeral Mrs Sohn and Mrs Aldrich are sisters Immediate survivors include the widow two daughters and grandchildren One daughter preceded him in death a few years ago
Mrs Iva Cook spent Thursday through Easter Sunday with her sons Wallace Cook in Forest Park Illinois and Donald Cook in Deerfield Illinois. Saturday evening they visited friends at a local bar. She and Senator Rae Henry met in Forest Park.

Thirteen members and seven former members of the Mixers Home Demonstration Club celebrated its 15th anniversary with a dinner party at the Bluebird Restaurant in Morristown. The club’s 1952 officers were installed earlier in March and April, with Miss Dorothy Jinks officiating. Former officers and charter members attended, and a scrapbook of club history was shared along with contests and prizes.
Women of the Carthage East St. Christian Church donated 28 dozen colored eggs for an Easter egg hunt at the Leonard Jackson farm Saturday March 25 from 1 30 to 3 p m for children from preschool to thirteen. Winners in Group I Debra Roland David Johnson Roxie Ann Campbell Group II Brenda Wright Missy McNabb Mike Wilson Ricky Lynch Group III Karen Skillman Wilson Janice Skillman refreshments included chocolate and jelly beans.
Easter Sunday service at East St. Christian Church attracted more than a hundred attendees. Mrs. Robert Wright Mrs. Jack Lynch and Mrs. Paul Boulton delivered the meditation titled Sent Forth With Power while Rev. Stanley Packs read scripture. Carthage High School chorus sang two numbers. Benediction by Rev. Boulton. A church breakfast followed in the basement hosted by the Come Join Us Class. Eight people were baptized at regular services.
4 H girls and their mothers met at the Community Center Tuesday night to hear project requirements and view work samples. Mrs. Lois Ruth Shields explained 1st year Clothing with Mrs. Barbara White detailing 2nd year. Twenty-nine members attended.
Carthage Nazarene Church schedules Baby Day on Sunday April 2. Parents may have their babies dedicated by Pastor Ernest Garner. Guest speaker Rev. Valla Tarr from Fortville Indiana will address attendees.
Mr and Mrs Virgil Kilgore relocate with daughter to the V district in Carthage this week from Dublin Indiana. Mrs Kilgore is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Edgar Elza of near Carthage.
A cooperative Easter Sunday dinner was hosted by the family of Mr and Mrs Ro Robertson hor j and honored Roy ce s birthday. S Sgt and Mrs Paul Livingstone and children attended with extended relatives including Mr and Mrs Roy Robertson Sr of Carthage and multiple Robertson families from Indiana Greenfield Columbus West Point Ky and Carthage.
Sp4 Dick Patterson called his parents in Berlin at 11 a.m. Sunday and spoke with family members. He and Leo Foust planned visits to Paris and London and are due home in Ma. Overnight guests at the Patterson home for Easter included Mr and Mrs Bob McCorkle and children of Speedway Indianapolis Mr and Mrs Eldon Plank and daughters of Anderson Mr and Mrs Charles Miller and Angie of Knightstown and Elzie Patterson of Milroy. Angie Miller celebrated her 1st birthday with a party Saturday night.

Banquet at CHS gym 630 PM, open house 5 to 6. Community Dance to follow sponsored by Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority.
At a home gathering on Tuesday March 28 at 7 p.m. co hosts Mrs James Neal and others led a list of reports. Secretary’s report noted. Citizenship and Health and Safety reports given. Devotions and an interesting lesson on diseases transmitted from animals to man were led by Mrs James Miller and Mrs Robert Cooper. Refreshments served to 13 members.

The Big Blue River Conservancy District final hearing is set for 9 a.m. Monday May 1 in Henry County after a Circuit Court order. The plan, backed by the Stream Pollution Board and others, spans Henry and Rush counties and aims to flood control drainage water supply and recreation while guiding sewage treatment and waste disposal. Estimated total cost is 5.695 million dollars with a federal share of 3.199 million and district share 2.495 million, with much of the latter expected to be state funded. completion target seven years from initial construction, potentially by late 1967.
Mrs. Forrest Moore hosted a 12:30 luncheon for Home Garden Club members with co host Mrs. Loyal Hunt and sixteen members present. Mrs. Fred Flick reviewed the club’s nineteen year history and members discussed the State Convention set for April 26 27 in New Albany and a plant sale at the April meeting. The next meeting is April 18 a workshop and cooperative luncheon at the Community Center. Roll call prompted Different Topics.
Luncheon guests last Friday included Dr. Gilbert Williams evangelist in charge of Easter Crusade at Walnut Ridge Church, along with Jay Kallane of Kentucky and Mike Henderson pastor of Walnut Ridge Church and Mrs Henderson.
A public hearing will be held Tuesday April 4 at 7 00 p m at Town Hall on ordinance No 45 proposed by Carthage Town Council. The measure sets a new rates and charges schedule for owners connected to the Dorado Eco Sewage System with details on former sections on page 4.
