Columbus man George Stephens of Ohio dies in Carthage week

Wid hastened obituary notices state George Stephens of Columbus Ohio died Monday. Former Carthage resident and brother of Eli Stephens, he leaves widow Elizabeth and several children and grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Columbus on Thursday.

Mixers Home Demonstration Club 15th Anniversary Party

Thirteen members and seven former members of the Mixers Home Demonstration Club celebrated its 15th anniversary with a dinner party at the Bluebird Restaurant in Morristown. Easter Sunrise Service at East St. Christian Church Draws Hundreds

Easter Sunday service at East St. Christian Church attracted more than a hundred attendees. Final Hearing Set On Blue River Project District Plan

The Big Blue River Conservancy District final hearing is set for 9 a.m. Monday May 1 in Henry County after a Circuit Court order. The plan, backed by the Stream Pollution Board and others, spans Henry and Rush counties and aims to flood control drainage water supply and recreation while guiding sewage treatment and waste disposal. Estimated total cost is 5.695 million dollars with a federal share of 3.199 million and district share 2.495 million, with much of the latter expected to be state funded. completion target seven years from initial construction, potentially by late 1967.
