Two Local Girls Injured In Wreck In Mississippi

Brenda Willey driver of a Rambler and passenger Betty were injured when they struck a parked truck trailer after failing to fix a flat. Both were taken to Rush Memorial Hospital for cuts and observation. Trooper Walter Love is investigating the accident.

Bloomington Woman Injured in Car Crash In Charlottesville

A Bloomington woman sustained head and knee bruises after a two car collision at Charlottesville. The 1963 Ford was struck by Orville J. Ramsey 69 of Carthage driving a 1959 Rambler. Both vehicles were total losses and Ramsey failed to see the other car.

Lucian Davis Dies Suddenly in Carthage Area

Funeral services for Lucian Davis are set for 2 p.m. Monday in Carthage with Rev. Stanley Palicki officiating and burial in Riverside Cemetery. Davis, a WWI veteran, died of a heart attack at the Clarence Heim residence in the Hannagan Community. He had lived in Carthage since 1913 and worked as a farm laborer for local residents, most recently for Ercel Bever Jr. He was born in North Carolina and never married. Survived by no immediate family. he had been rooming with Cecil Hamilton. Birth notices record a son for Mr. and Mrs. John Leisure of Carthage and a serene girl for Thomas Gorman. The Carthage Band Boosters met at 7:30 p.m. at the School Band room with plans for a June 23–24 trip to Cincinnati to visit the Zoo, Crosley Field, and nearby attractions. discussion included Swipe project progress and the alumni banquet preparations.

Dedication of Achievement Book at Rush County 4H event

At the Twenty Annual Achievement Program in the Multi-Purpose Room on March 31 Mrs. Paul Norris of Manilla received the achievement book dedication for her long service to Rush County. Master of Ceremonies Marion Liggett announced the honor as Rev. Howard Jarvis gave the Invocation before a crowd of over 300. Former Resident John D. McDaniel Dies at 60

John D. McDaniel, 60, longtime Knightstown resident, died Sunday morning at his home. Born September 16, 1906 in Carthage, he was a World War I veteran, American Legion member, and carpenter. Forkner elected vice chairman of Hoosier Energy Division

Raymond G. Forkner, general manager of Rush County REMC, is elected vice chairman of Hoosier Energy Division. The group, owned by 17 REMCs in Southern Indiana, will supply wholesale power to its members and serves about 95 000 rural families across 40 counties. A new transmission system and five substations are planned with a $600 000 value, and Rush County REMC will start receiving power in early 1969.
