Funeral services for W S Arnold in Indianapolis
Mr and Mrs Oliver Earnest and Mr and Mrs Walter Nelson and Mr and Mrs Willie S Nelson attended the funeral services of W S Arnold in Indianapolis Saturday afternoon. Burial was made in Morristown cemetery. He was the son of Mr and Mrs James Arnold former local residents and brother in law to Mrs Oliver Barnest. He had suffered a life two weeks ago at his home in Indianapolis.

Fire Destroys Brooder House Killing 300 Chicks
A fire likely from an overheated stove destroyed a brooder house on Douglas Cooper’s farm west of town last Friday morning. About three hundred month-old chicks perished. Local volunteers joined the response as the blaze threatened the farmer’s home briefly.

Fire at Shelbyville sheriff’s home and gas station causes heavy damage
Fire swept the sheriff's residence and a gasoline service station in Shelbyville early Wednesday, causing thousands of dollars in damage. Two firefighters were injured and 13 prisoners in the jail faced danger. Jail damage and exact origins remain undetermined with estimates over five hundred pounds for the station.

The Carthage community hosts an inter denominational youth convention Friday and Saturday with Rev. Charles Lizensby speaking on Seeking Higher Levels. Activities include registration at East Street Christian church, worship, classes, business session, meals, planning, group singing, recreation, and a youth banquet with Rev. Car Damaged When Freight Train Strikes Auto
Maynard Magee and his daughter Gloria Led narrowly escaped injury Wednesday morning when their car was struck at an elevator crossing by a freight train. The auto, moving east with its front wheels on the tracks, was thrown onto a coal car on a siding. Both occupants escaped unscathed though the car was badly damaged.
